What is Kristian's actual injury? Why does O have to be so cryptic?

HIPPA doesn’t apply to coaches, it applies to members of a patient’s healthcare team.

This is simply common courtesy

Because he's a coach and not a doctor?

Lol no. It would apply to the staff doctors and trainers, but there is no case law supporting the assertion that a coach, professor, or janitor is a HIPAA covered entity.

This is not true. This is like saying the CEO of a hospital could tell you someone’s diagnosis because they aren’t medical staff. HIPAA covers entities not just medical staff. That said I think O is just being careful. Athletes sign away all their rights basically including HIPAA when they sign grant in aid. The university can get any information they want on any athlete. I know this from seeing athletes in clinic settings.

Its privacy of the player and nothing else. You don't know how HIPPA works.

It's applies to anyone that has access to PHI of patients in any environment that manages or has knowledge of medical records in any capacity.
