I doubt he thinks the team will lose, but he does have press obligations, so he’s say something either way.

Ben, people are always going to dig WAY too deep into a coach's comments. I know it's difficult, but sometimes it's just best to ignore the dumb things people say.

It will matter for perception going into the office. The narratives for after the game have already been set by the respective extreme ends of the positiger and negatiger.
LSU win:
Positigers-Great win. We Comin
Negatigers- it was a meaningless bowl game against a group of 5 school. Didn't win by enough Ensminger should be replaced. Texas will be the new make or break game for Orgeron.
LSU Loses:
Positigers-UCF is a great team. Game doesn't mean anything. Everything is fine will be in CFP next year.
Negatigers-O should be fired immediately will never win again. Texas is going to beat them by 50.

I don't think it's possible to change it for the better right now but you can make it respectable. I'm pretty sure that UCFs starting QB is out and being replaced by a freshman. I could be wrong about the freshman part but Aranda should put some pressure on him. They're definitely going to have to shuffle some guys in the secondary.
LSU should win this game even with a patched up defense.

Both groups are completely unreasonable and while what you say is 100% accurate, it's still doesn't affect the future success of LSU one bit. So, as I said, in the grand scheme of things winning or losing is meaningless.

Particularly when it advances their anti-O narrative. This game wasn’t a gimme even with Greedy, et al.
Orgeron deserves criticism for some of his choices and how pedestrian the offense performed. Yet, he finished 9-3 s a tough schedule.

UCF is well coached but I dont Think the talent gap is there to abuse our backups like A&M did.

Every bowl game looks like a different team. Sometimes that is good and sometimes it’s bad. But it always looks different than the season that just ended.

Depends on what you mean by "bodes well". Are you going to continue to melt if they give up 24+ points? If so, I wouldn't bother watching the game if I were you.
