Depends on what you mean by "bodes well". Are you going to continue to melt if they give up 24+ points? If so, I wouldn't bother watching the game if I were you.

Continue to melt? When did I melt and about what?

I cant Imagine the changes on Defense are changes for the better after A&M

I can't imagine it'd be worse. That game was one of the poorest defensive showings I've seen LSU roll out in a very long time.

How many situations were there in which we only needed one more stop to win the game only to let them convert? 4? 5? 6? Hell, on their last drive in regulation we let them convert two 4 and miles.

No, that defensive gameplan, whatever it was, needs to be scrapped and it needs to never see the light of day again.

The defense made plays and made stops vs A&M

Defensive TD
Huge stop in the second half that we immediately turn over because O keeps forcing Giles into games.

Then we got screwed like 8 plays in a row on the last drive.

But how can it get worse?

Subtract Greedy
Subtract Battle for part
Subtract Phillips for half.

Yet, he finished 9-3 s a tough schedule

Was it a tough schedule?

Miami: 7-5
Southeastern LA: 4-7
Auburn: 7-5
Louisiana Tech: 7-5
Ole Miss: 5-7
Florida: 9-3
Georgia: 11-1
Miss. State: 8-4
Alabama: 12-0
Arkansas: 2-1Rice: 2-11
Texas A&M: 8-4

2-2 against current ranked teams.

It looked tough before the season started. But some of those teams were definitely overrated.

It was a pretty good season overall, but not the gauntlet that it was made out to be before the season started.

You've been melting about the Alabama game for weeks. If that game bothered you that much you aren't going to enjoy this one at all, in my opinion.

Miami and Auburn were both way worse than e pecked.

But UGA was good. That’s a great win.

All good things. Now explain letting them convert two obscenely long 4th downs on the last drive in regulation and not pressuring Mond all night.

It was a bad game plan. No shame in admitting it.

No, we really didnt't. There were only two calls that were blown: the fumble ruled incomplete and the snap with 2 seconds left. The PI call in 7OT was also blown.

Why would we explain something that isn't true?

4th and 1 second, we got pressure with the 3 we brought, flushed Monds out the pocket and forced a throw to a covered WR who made a 1 handed bobbling catch covered by an All American CB.

Sorry, I dont See this as much a game plan issue.

Miami and Auburn were both overrated, no doubt. I agree with you about the Georgia win being a great win. That was the best win we've had since the win against the 3rd ranked Ole Miss team in 2014 in my opinion.

No shite!

Its also always, this year is better than you think. Forget its a three defeat year with a worse offense and defense than we had in 2015, forget we are third in the west, forget Alabama beat the crap out of 29-0 at home, we are coming.

Always next year for LSU football

O is a walking, talking, meaningless platitude-bot. I wouldn't put too much in to what he is saying.

However, LSU has to have a de facto "new defense" with both CB's not playing and Phillips out for the 1st half

So he is or isn't a "walking, talking, meaningless platitude-bot" that we shouldn't put too much stock into what he says?

The only "offensive" player would be "if and that's a big "if" Pettigrew would play. Read awhile back that he was getting close to full speed.

It will matter for perception going into the office. The narratives for after the game have already been set by the respective extreme ends of the positiger and negatiger.

LSU win:
Positigers-Great win. We Comin
Negatigers- it was a meaningless bowl game against a group of 5 school. Didn't win by enough Ensminger should be replaced. Texas will be the new make or break game for Orgeron.

LSU Loses:
Positigers-UCF is a great team. Game doesn't mean anything. Everything is fine will be in CFP next year.
Negatigers-O should be fired immediately will never win again. Texas is going to beat them by 50.

And the crux of it is, this bowl game is essentially meaningless for evaluating O, win or lose.

He hasn't significantly improved the team, but he shouldn't be fired immediately. The bowl game changes nothing but initial expectations for next season. BUT, win or lose this one game, if O loses 2 games by the middle of November next year, we should consider moving on. I'm pretty sure we've seen O's ceiling, I could be wrong, but if it's another repeat of the last two seasons, all logic says that should be good enough to know.

From what was expected to start coming out of the Spring LSU's D is down three LBs (Taylor, Chaisson, Phillips), one DL, two CBs (at least), and one safety (unless Battle is back)...
