If he wins another title he'll have 2 to his name while LSU won 2 in its history before him. If he wins another idgaf if they pay him 10 mil/year

When we win the Natty this year, that's the last thing I'll be thinking about.

this kind of provision invites a coach to go complacent after the ship and say "fire me". why in the hell wouldn't a one time bonus, let's say 2.5 mil and a raise of a mil per annum get the job done.

My guess is that the kind of personality that would drive home a national championship wouldn't be the same kind of personality to "go complacent" after winning one.

this attitude is the reason why coach salaries are out of control. common sense is a goner

We're paying 60 year old men millions of dollars to yell at 20 year olds while they run around with a leather ball. Common sense never showed up in the first place.

From a purely financial point of view, many of these coaches earn their keep. LSU continues to make a profit and still will despite Miles being given a raise.

You could easily argue that if this were going to happen, it already would have with many of the coaches at this level. They earn more in a single year than many of us will in a lifetime. They could cash out at any time. Many of them are motivated by ego more than money, but ego can also drive them to want to be paid similarly or more than their peers as a matter of pride.

There might be some change in his clause, because no way should any college coach not named Nick Saban, be earning 7 mill.

On the other hand, I'm not physically paying him a check, so I don't care.

Miles would get a 2.7 million dollar bump in BASE PAY if he wins the natty

I am fine with this. What I have a problem with is giving Miles a buyout of more than 2 years pay. That was pure stupidity.

Most coaches on this level have a highest paid clause for winning a natty

Basically

"If we win National Championship, so and so head coach will be given a raise to make him the highest paid coach in College Football"

Miles' agent must have pics of Alleva

Really? If he wins a national championship? Do you realize what that would mean? It means he would have WON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!

When you're number one you don't need pics to get paid well. Ask Saban.

If he wins another Natty he would deserve every penny of that.

If it's not taxpayer money I don't care how much he makes. More power to him. Free enterprise. Law of supply and demand. Capitalism. I just want to go
along for the ride.

Leave it to the rant to find something to possibly complain about just in case Les wins a national championship.

He doesn't deserve a bigger paycheck than Saban, but if he wins a natty this year, that's fine with me. In fact, since he's not likely to coach many more years anyway, I'm happy with him leaving on his terms, unless of course, the program totally collapses.

On the other hand, a 3-4 loss season with this kind of loaded and experienced team should mean his dismissal is imminent.

Saban had the same clause to become the highest paid coach when he won a National Championship...
