Personally, I thought Kelly was coach-speaking at first, but I really bought into the fire at the end. Watching some of the players, they also seemed to be somewhat shocked by the outburst but they were very attentive. I liked it.

not so sure. He didn't say he was proud of his coaches effort. That would be tough to swallow.

Yea I didn’t think about that enough before. I wonder if he is taking the heat so he doesn’t throw House under the bus in public knowing that he’s going to replace House at year end.

Seemed forced and that this one was locked and loaded. Feels like he is hitting a brick wall with some of the things he is trying to instill outside of Saturdays.

I don't think it seemed forced. I think he believes what he is saying. You don't get that red being forced.

Coach’s failed the players with lack of defensive adjustments

wonder if someone will post the discussions with his defensive staff from yesterday after he saw all the film. I bet that arse chewing doesn’t come out.

I doubt a player or staffer were in that arse chewing meeting with the balls to have their phone out filming. I would assume that was a closed door meeting with a short invitation list

Good speech but you can’t call the defense anything resembling good. I get that he was probably addressing the whole team, coaches and all, but you still can’t refer to our defensive play as good if you are serious about improving it.

I like the fire but what a bizarre post game statement when the defensive coaching was far and away the worst problem and the defense was not anything I would describe as good.

Yea let’s just go on camera saying “all y’all motherfrickers are trash. Your coaches are trash, they’re all fired btw maybe next year someone with a brain cell will be able to keep your dumbass hoodrat friends eligible.”

That would’ve done wonderful things for team morale.

So coach says his team is good, not great. He is there to get elite, then says he’s with them, then says he’s only with the elite, which he just told everyone they’re good/great. Hopefully he set a bar and not a few kids back on English.

Sorry bro, coach O is never coming back. I know you touch his photo every night before bed and dream of your glory days

Even if you say he is over his skis as head coach (which I believe he is/was), he is the best d line and interim coach out there.

He’s so mild mellow and unemotional compared to how he coached at Cincinnati and early on at Notre Dame. He’s made it to the top paid coach in the land. Eating good and living decadently. He isn’t risking not earning the millions anymore. He’s resting here and riding out his nice payday while saying the cliche coach lines in such a mild and relaxed way. Far from the demeanor that earned him his way to the top of the coaches salaries.
I wanna feel good about it and assume he knows what he’s doing, but then I look at who he loses to and what his teams look like on gamedays and relevant to his salary and contract terms here, he ain’t delivering on the expectations. He gives us all the feeling that he somehow lucked into the SECCG last year.

Good grief at the flip-flopping in logic here.

I remember not long ago when people were afraid his red faced attitude would turn off southern black players and that hardarse deal wouldn’t play well in living rooms here.

He wants to ride out retirement by entering a conference and program that is a massive pressure-cooker?

You won 11 games over the span of two years in 21 & 22. Brian Kelly has almost as many CONFERENCE wins in a year and a half (10 games) than you had TOTAL wins the two years prior to his arrival COMBINED.

You don’t take a depleted roster of patchwork portal guys and win the west over Alabama on a fluke.

Let’s just be honest about what this is, your expectation was that we would be a playoff team in year two of a down-to-the-studs rebuild.

If the defense were "good" it would, in fact, be "good enough".

bullshite! Tulane is good, but they are not good enough to win the championship; they are not elite.

Kelly is the man. You will see.

In 2023, LSU with this offense and a "good" defense would be undefeated.

You're right. He did a poor job by telling them he was proud of them and they played hard, then tearing them a new arse hole on the elite thing. If I am a player and my coach tells me I played hard and he was proud of me then the problem is not me but not having elite coaches. I'll take all downvotes as a compliment.
