strength and conditioning staff.

quote:

Viloria joined Tommy Moffitt’s strength-and-conditioning staff this offseason and worked individually with the linebackers this summer. Queen appears the most bulked up, but the entire group has felt the benefits of his personal attention.

“All those guys got stronger this summer cause we got Coach Viloria from Florida State,” White said. “He went from a head strength coach to our personal strength coach, so we’re getting better teaching than anybody. It’s like if Coach Moffitt worked us out every day.”

quote:

Consider this: White may never even have been moved to linebacker were it not for the dearth of talent signed at the position under former LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis. He changed positions because LSU had just three scholarship players at the position going into the 2016 season.

quote:

“Damone is catching up to the speed of the game right now, but Micah has been here for four months, so he’s like one of the vets already,” White said. “I think we’ll see both of those guys. I know they won’t redshirt for sure. You can put that down and tell anybody that. They won’t redshirt. They too good.”

quote:

Meanwhile Queen, who has bulked up to 230 pounds, is pushing White in practice. Coaches rave about his improvement dating back to the spring, and Queen thrived in the summer weight-lifting program orchestrated by assistant Vic Viloria, the former head strength coach at Florida State.

quote:

“We’re doing something right over here, so a lot of people are joining in,” White said. “We’ve still got a lot of new guys that want to join and a couple guys in those younger classes that haven’t come yet, but we’ve got people that want to be part of this brotherhood.”

“We’re doing something right over here” | How inside linebacker became one of the deepest (and now strongest) position groups on LSU’s roster

OLB (Bench/Field)

46 Andre Anthony (So.) 6-4, 238
43 Ray Thornton (So.) 6-4, 226
4 K'Lavon Chaisson (So.) 6-4, 238
45 Michael Divinity (Jr.) 6-2, 238
49 Travez Moore (Jr.) 6-4, 253 Four-star recruit.
55 Jarell Cherry (Fr.) 6-3, 235 Four-star recruit.
48 Dantrieze Scott (Fr.) 6-5, 229 Three-star recruit.

ILB (Mack/Rover)

40 Devin White (Jr.) 6-1, 248
8 Patrick Queen (So.) 6-2, 232
24 Tyler Taylor (So.) 6-2, 242
6 Jacob Phillips (So.) 6-4, 229
23 Micah Baskerville (Fr.) 6-2, 233 Four-star recruit.
35 Damone Clark (Fr.) 6-4, 238 Four-star recruit.

quote:

A potential X-factor here could be true freshman Dantrieze Scott, a player that LSU’s coaches feel was a steal in last year’s signing class. He’s a bit of a project, but they love his athleticism, to the point that Orgeron has discussed moving him to tight end as well.

I have said for 10 damned years LSU needs some big corn fed TEs to punish the DBs.

White black or green, we need some athletic hosses at that position.

Why was Villoria let go at FSU?

Going from Head S&C to LB S&C is an odd step back.

Also, we have done a really good job recruiting LB since Chavis left.

That’s ducking dude was such dead weight at the end. Him and Brick.

You’re only allowed to be positive about the upcoming season if you’re vague about your positivity. No expectations allowed, scumbag

It’s kinda Amazing how long Moffit Hs been at LSU with multiple staff changes.

Jimbo didn’t want to take him with him?

Idk it’s clearly a step forward for LSU and a step back for him

That is a ton of talent and depth linebacker and not one senior.

This was a really nice hire by O. For years their has been a contingent of LSU fans that have been clamoring to replace Moffit, and this guy's name always comes up. Or it was always "Why cant we be more like Alabama, or FSU, both who have Moffitt disciples".

Ive heard rumors that he is the heir apparent to Moffitt.

if that doesn't happen, he wont be here long, that is for sure

I wish they’d start banning the idiots that post this in every single positive news thread.

Sure, no need for working out or practicing for that matter. Just go out on the field and win. That's all you need do.

Dumb!

sorry for being positive and thinking 10 wins should be doable. Sad you think less of this team. And banning someone for being positive?

Was his DUI/suspension last Fall or in 2016?
