I don’t understand how people can’t see that it will take a few years to build a team. We aren’t NIL front runners, especially in bball. McMahon is a good coach and it’s wild people just hate him because he’s not Wade.

This program was decimated, it was buried. Year 2 we are losing by 1-2 possessions and have 6-7 games that could have gone the other way. Know what that means??

THE PROGRAM IS TRENDING UPWARD!!

Almost beat another team he has more talent than. At least he didn’t get curb stomped and give up 100+ like he does vs good teams. Print 2 shirts

Why doesn’t woodward give McMahon an extension and let’s see how many losses we can accumulate in 10 seasons.

I know basketball. It took a 20 point deficit before be decided to mix things up defensively. We tried identical game plans against Alabama after losing game 1 by 20. Now he has this fued going with Cook.

What about any of this says "good coach"

By all means, though, let’s fire his frickin arse and continue the shitshow coaching turnover that is LSU basketball.

I'm willing to give him another year, but nothing leads me to believe next year will be better.

We are losing Hannibal, Baker, Dean, Wright, and possibly Cook. We have 2 HS recruits signed.

If they don't make the tourney next year its time to cut bait

Why wait till next year to cut bait,so we can have another year of moral victorys, and a record of about 17-15 yeah that will be great while south Carolina is 21-3 in there coaches 2nd year! But just wait till year 7 he will go 20-10 and an 11 seed alright!

The plan was to sign a big HS class this year. Since CMM and Woodward both said last year didn’t count, he punted on the 2023 class to get a head start on 2024. They missed on all but 2 recruits.

But he’s a hell of a coach.

Imagine if Brian Kelly went 4-8 then 6-6 in his first two years, and had the 21st ranked recruiting class coming in for year 3… there would be a go fund me to pay his 100 million dollar buyout. Somehow, the same people think the basketball team has the right guy and is “trending up”. It’s insanity.

He does, the fact that he has 4 guys who are 6-10 or better and none of them can rebound is tough to watch. Now we can debate why this is and have - but that's pointless by now, unless being seen as right or someone else wrong is very important to you.

But we gave up 19 offensive rebounds. Last game Bama beat us 28-8 on second chance point, this one was probably similar.

This is the absolute biggest issue for us and it has been for the last two year. Getting someone on the floor who can rebound and defend at the rim a bit has to be CMM's biggest priority next year, cause it's killing us now.

Name one player that has gotten significantly better under McMonotone’s tenure.

Developing players is just as important as recruiting players and he cant do either.

There’s no probation and his first recruiting class was much better than his next 2.

2022- #15 freshman class
2023- #47
2024- #31

Has more talent than?!! If LSU had AL PG or TN PG or FL PG they probably win a few of these close games. We lack a rim protector/board cleaner and an SEC caliber PG. Cook is OK but has his flaws. Defensive liability. Bad shots. Crucial TO. You can't win close games with that as your starting PG. Wright is a good role player but on this team he has to be THE GUY. Not going to work. Baker has great offensive skills but no defense and incredibly weak rebounder for 7 footer. Ward and Reed have improved some but Ward is still weak on defense and Reed should be averaging a double double but wants to play outside. If he can keep the young players eligible to come back with Chest and the 6'9" KY transfer wo's been hurt all year and the 6'10" freshman commit we should be much better on the boards. Hopefully Reed continue to improve as he has a lot of upside. Williams and Ward at 2 with the 4 star freshman coming in and Cook to help the freshman get comfortable and accustomed to SEC that would be a good 7 man rotation. bring in a couple of transfers and they should be better next year.

The trough line with all of that seems to be no defense and I agree, we’re terrible on D. As far as decision making, that’s not a talent issue it’s coaching. There’s an old saying with those kinds of mistakes “either you’re coaching it or you’re allowing it” that’s on Coach Mac. We’re 2 seasons and 5 point guards into this high turnover, poor possession/shot selection issue so it can’t always be everyone else’s fault except for the guy in charge who’s been the constant in all of this.

Build what team? McMahon has taken 2 high school recruits in the 2024 class and back in the 2023 class. He is not "building" anything through recruiting. He is not getting enough high school talent and is having to dip heavily in the portal to try and have a team each year so far, and it will be the same going into year 3. You cant sit here and say he's "building" anything when he's taken 12 transfers the last 2 seasons and will probably take another 6 or so for year 3. If he got 4-5 high school recruits in 2023 and maybe the same for 2024 you can tell people to be patient the team is young etc...

Instead only 3 players on this entire team are getting any minutes who arent already 3rd, 4th or 5th year players.

McMahon will live and die by the portal going into year 3 just like the previous 2 seasons. It's not "building" anything, it's simply getting talent from the portal and he hasnt done well enough there to win games so far. He's gotten 3-4 SEC caliber players out of the 12 portal takes he has. If he has to go out and get 6 more this offseason are we confident he'll even find 3 (out of 6) guys who can play at this level?

quote:

McMahon is a good coach and it’s wild people just hate him because he’s not Wade.

He's not wade because he's losing at an astronomically higher rate than Wade. And lets keep in mind Wade didn't walk into an easy situation himself here, and he didnt have the portal in the same way like McMahon has at his disposal right away either.

Simply put, McMahon has to do the portal way better than he has. We have too many guys who cant play in the SEC on this roster and this roster is entirely his outside of Wilkinson at this point already. He cant take 5 guys in the high school class of 2025 and sit here and say "oh yeah we're going to build something that'll be good in 3-4 years from today".

We're seeing coaches win in their 1st and 2nd years in the SEC (Beard, Paris). I'm giving McMahon a pass until year 3 but if he cant put together a winning team by then he has to go because there's nothing being "built" he's just striking out in the portal too much and we can get a bunch of coaches who cant recruit the portal well enough in here if thats all he's going to do because he cant get enough talented high school kids on campus.

You still need to find the enter key. Perhaps it's {return} or something else. It's not that difficult.
