I woke up this morning in disbelief! On the "front" page of the ADVOCATE, "CLEMSON DOMINATES" is what I see first....

Our hometown newspaper chose to print an article that belittles LSU academic status and praises Clemson....on the eve of one the greatest days in LSU history. I find this irresponsible and uncalled for. This is a slap in the face to our university, former and existing students, and particularly the LSU football team, coaches, and fans. The timing and choice of words is provoking. Clemson is higher ranked in academics, and probably always have, why raise this topic now?

Doesn't the athletic department contribute MILLIONS back to the academic arena annually?!?!?

I am not a poster, but felt compelled to do so today. I attached a link to the written article, but it is NOT the same as the printed front page headline....I encourage you take a look at the print copy if you can.... LINK
I do want to acknowledge the ADVOCATE for the 20 page NC preview section today, it was great.

GEAUX LSU TIGERS! FOREVER LSU!

I was in disbelief when I saw it as well. On the eve of a national championship football game, that’s what they decide to print?

I'm a proud LSU alumnus, but I can't find fault with that article. What they describe is what happens when you have a governor in Jindal who disinvests for years in higher ed. He almost wrecked LSU.

I don’t think Will Sentell has ever played a sport in his life and was the kid always picked last in red rover.

Better athletics helps academics. Lets just hope our states leadership prioritizes LSU's academic growth for the future. Especially with keeping talent in state.

Well LSU could do better in academics and it wouldn’t have any bearing on the football program. LSU should use this as an opportunity to say we aren’t where we need to be in academics and gain some momentum to improve in that area.

The U does stand for university.

Of course it does. If you're not Harvard or MIT, athletics is the face of your University. Like it or not, that's a fact. At LSU, you can pretty much count on donations dropping if the football team doesn't do well. So yes, athletic success absolutely helps the academic side.

What does Clemson dominate LSU in? All I read was some rubbish about how much the states aid the schools and some lame statement saying that NOLA was a destination city instead of BR which has been BS since 2005.
