I'm not one to usually complain about Blair, but I had seen the clips yesterday and was wondering if something was wrong with him. Dude sounded flat and unexcited on his calls (especially for a play as exciting as Emery's TD run was).

Hawthorne was awful, stop being blinded by nostalgia.

The most frequent defense of him is that he was a committed homer. It isn’t the compliment you think it is

It sounds like Blair decided before the game: "I'm going to come here, hope this game doesn't last long, put up with this doddering outdated old man who provides nothing to the broadcast, and go home ASAP."

His color man being half asleep matters. Listen to Blair doing a basketball game with Brady and he's greatly engaged and they're going back and forth the whole game.

I like Blair and thought he was very unenthused all game. The whole atmosphere even on TV seemed kind of dull. I know it wasn't in the stadium but the while night seemed to have a very meh atmosphere. Joe Tess did what he could though.

My first thought after listening to highlights was he was distracted with something that game and normally I wouldn’t even notice

The essence of every anti-Blair post: “he’s too professional”

He’s a much, much better play by play guy than Hawthorne

It wasn't bad something just seemed off as it did with everything that night.

never really liked Blair, especially in football… I used to listen to every game Jim called, even the rough years at the end, this guy just has ZERO emotion for LSU, and i can’t buy his fake caring…

To be fair, the game had it's moments, but it was pretty much a boring game.

A typical Hawthorne call-

Oh my, Hester up the middle for a long gain.

The next play- Flynn brings the Tigers to the LOS for a second and 5.

He’s a typical Alleva hire. Mediocre. He talks too much in all sports and doesn’t allow his partners time to talk and provide analysis they’re more qualified to provide than him.

He needs to call the play, get out of the way and let his partners (Moreau or Rush on the field) talk until about 3 seconds before the next snap. During dead balls in basketball, he needs to stop and let Brady speak. And in baseball, he needs to stop talking about previous points while the pitch happens or the ball is in play.

He’s mediocre, but he’s still better than listening to Joe Tessitore or this Saturday, Bob Wischusen, who fits right in as the Jets play by play guy on Sundays because he sucks.

To be fair there were flags on both those plays and in the moment it would be hard to tell if they were against us or not.

From the stands, that became a recurring theme. I'd get excited about a play, then a penalty would call it back. So by the end of the game, it was like "Are there any flags? Does this actually count?"

Not bad if it was television, but for radio that is extremely sterile. Add to the fact that he's supposed to be a bit of a homer, that just knocks his grade down even further.

He had way more enthusiasm when he first started. Not sure what's going on.

I'm sure he's a great guy, but I'm not listening to him on radio for football. During LSU v SU game I thought the Southern Jag radio guys were more entertaining....not saying they're technically the best....just entertaining.

Yeah, he sounded like he gave zero fricks

Yeah he can’t get the enthusiasm that Jim Hawthorne had. Pretty non-plus
