Happy to see Shores settling in as a reliever and hopefully turning the corner. He has looked better and better since moving to the bullpen, and you can see his confidence level growing. His contributions as a reliever, or a starter again if needed, will play a vital role in LSU's postseason success.
Showing improvement in his last 3 outings:
6 IP, 1.50 ERA, 2 BBs, 6 Ks

It's always been control for Chase, but it sure is a nice luxury to have multiple guys that can come out of the pen and pump 100.
Really hope he keeps it up, especially with cowans recent struggles

not sure who else throws 100. maybe rizy can get close..noot hit 101 on the gun at usc but it seemed like a mistake or glitch or whatever you want to call a gun being off

At the right time too.

I think they brought in Susan Sarandon to help him turn the corner. He's now breathing through his eyelids and she had him start wearing a garter belt under his uniform… all in the interest of distracting his mind from the tension-inducing thoughts that swirl through his head on the mound.

"The Twin Towers"
6'-8" Chase Shores
6'-9" Maverick Rizy
Agreed
2023 had some late season question marks but ...
The "Hefty Lefties" Riley Cooper & Nate Ackenhausen stepped up when it mattered most! (along w Thatcher Hurd)
This team misses Gavin Guidry

He's throwing with more control with also more movement on his fastball. He'll be valuable as reliever like this especially considering how hard he throws.

Shores showing up and getting better is huge. Him and Noot are starting to peak.
If we can have them keep going and Evans and Cowan back that gives us 6 big arms.
I wish we gave Mayers a little more run as if he gets rolling for the post season it’s gonna be huge.

Uhh Rizy has hit 100 this year. No maybe about it.

I feel like they tweaked something with him recently. Mechanics or grip, idk, but his fastball certainly has more run on it over the last few outings.

After being out that long, I think this has been a good season for him. When you think about the power and the repetition it takes to be a pitcher at that level, then being injured, control issues aren't a surprise. Or rather, they shouldn't be a surprise.

Shores numbers his freshman year for reference:
18.1 innings 15 hits 4 runs 4 earned runs 9 walks 15 strikeouts
He definitely seems more comfortable and confident out there his past couple appearances

Jays been conservative with him lately. Would like to see him go longer than 2/3 innings

They have all but shelved his slider.

yep
He has shown improvement as his control has become better. Avoiding free bases is crucial, and an occasional hit isn't as damaging. He still needs to be able to throw his slider for strikes, but even when a batter is sitting fastball, hitting a 99-100 mph pitch is not easy.
