Positive thing is in the past when they have struggled with bad opponents it tended to last the whole game. At least tonight they raised the intensity to get the lead and extend it out to finish the game. Most importantly they did it with Carter in foul trouble in first half and 0 points. We have other guys that can step up at times. Also have scoring off the bench. In years past your big scorer goes to bench with foul trouble then we were in big trouble scoring wise. Have to be much better than tonight to compete in SEC but really think this is one of the hangover games after a big win while playing a crap opponent. Big win cause u can’t afford losses against that team when trying to make the tournament. Find a way to go 2-0 this weekend and you are off to a really good start. Like the depth to be able to go 10-11 deep without a huge drop off. So far looks like a fun team to watch.

Charleston played pretty damn tough until the final 10 minutes. Big physical team made us work. I don’t think they’re as bad as that record indicates

If youve watched sports long enough you should know teams play up and down at times

Terrible shooting in the first half. Only 37% from the floor and terrible shooting from the 3 point line, 26% for the game.
LSU was getting out rebounded by 13 in the 1st half but cleaned it up in the second half with 42 rebounds for each team.
Also Carter was quiet. Only 9 points. He needs to make more noise. Need his 3 going forward.

Mmcgrath, for someone who has supported this team and coach Mac I find this statement odd from you. Let’s not act like lick is Duke or Unc, we can beat these guys or at the very least play with them if coach has the troops ready. I love your passion but I’m gonna need ya to stop putting Pitt on a pedestal and start telling me how Coach Mac-10 and the boys are gonna stomp a muscle in that azz Friday! Let’s geaux!!!

Ok. Couldn’t recall. Thanks

Mudhole not muscle lmao

quote:I watched them play twice this season. Hey, I am all in on rooting for the Tigers when the time comes Friday night, but they are likely the toughest team on our OOC schedule. Just being honest. But this might be a game where our bigs, especially Reed, shine. We have athletes and length inside.

Charleston is a bad team, but as is so often the case as a huge underdog they played with nothing to lose, and LSU was flat as a pancake until about 12 minutes to go in the game.

There it is! That’s what I’m talking about! Yeah pitt’s good, but Mack-10 gonna prepare the troops and we gonna give them 10 kinda of hell, they might be big and can shoot but our length and athleticism may give them problems. Win or lose, just show me we can compete with the big dogs
Posted on 11/19/24 at 9:27 pm to Primeminister337
And Sec teams have historically gave ACC teams problems with our athleticism. We may not shoot or be as refined as them but we can give them problems

Chalking this up as one of those weird games, took us quite some time to get going

Tonight was a game that resembled many during the McMahon era. We are not motivated to play hard from the opening tip. We are nonchalant and careless with the ball. Players seem reluctant to shoot when they have a good look but overpass and we either take a much worse shot later in the shot clock or have a turnover. In the first half Sears hardly took a shot. In the second half he came alive and we finally had some offense. Collins was open for ten footers in the lane all night long and didn't shoot them. Reed is either great or something else. He misses more one and two foot shots than anyone I have seen. He did do a good job rebounding and playing defense but on offense he just disappears or worse is a liability.
Then there is the matter of who starts and playing time. I have seen enough. Collins and Chest should start. Robert Miller has done very little but starts every game? And how do you not start the other Miller at guard? Bailey is good but he should be coming off the bench.
We will see how good they are in this tournament. Lots of potential but we never seem to realize it. Is this coaching?

The first half was awful
Our post was non existent
The second half is good enough to be competitive
Problem in sec is you have to play that way the entire game because the margin of error is zero

Service was awful inside the PMAC so I couldn’t post.
I told yall VJ Miller was the truth. He beat out Tyrell for the backup 2/3 spot and that’s why Tyrell left.

He's gonna be important this year. That offensive game is nice.
We need either Givens or Mike will to give us some good minutes too. Both have been underwhelming after the opener.

They still could have found a role for ward so it sucks
He could have still been a big asset in sec play

Eh I mean all he could really do consistently was catch and shoot. At an elite level mind you, which is important no doubt… but he was a terrible defender and not a good playmaker and was inconsistent dropping the ball.
VJ has shown an ability to be a competent defender, ball handler, and passer. I’ll take him being a worse 3pt shooter if he’s better at literally everything else.

I swear some of you don't watch. He came in and shut down Kelly defensively as well as playing solid help defense and getting key rebounds down the stretch.
He played great defense down the stretch but offensively he is charmin soft.
Need more from him if we’re gonna make the tourney. We have no other source of frontcourt offense.

Pitt is a genuinely good team. LSU will have to put on a much better performance to make the game with Pitt competitive
