LOL...exactly who I was going to post.
FTR, most rational fans know that Nuss can and most likely will improve significantly with a year of experience under his belt......Not many people thought JB would improve the way he did, if any, and the same goes for JD, who had already been starting the better part of 4 years.
The knee jerk fans on here are the ones that think he is awful...not the NFL Scouts. The nfl scouts know that he has a bad OL, bad OC, and average WR's, with no run game.

Burrow and JD5 both got busy as soon as the season ended and worked on improving themselves and gaining experience with their receivers. That was the reason for their big jump. They were huge competitors who WANTED to do better and put in the time to get better.
It wasn't some magical thing that just happened. It was their leadership, not the coaches or even the university. Can Nuss do that? I'm unsure because he's so scared that he couldn't even bring himself to run a qb sneak on 4th and 1 last week without calling a time out and getting the play changed. Next year with the line being even more inexperienced, I don't see how he can improve his courage and mechanics that have become much worse due to bailing every play whether there is a pocket or not.
Someone HAS to step up and be a leader on this team because right now they have no rudder at all.

Then I realized the Harris comment was tongue in cheek, lol.
I can see now that it was taken as literal by most lol. I have never seen an LSU QB who consistently threw the ball on a flatter trajectory.
I stand by comment that Jefferson did actually improve. It took him getting suspended for kicking some douche bags arse in the parking lot of a bar, but he became a true team leader in 2011. His passing ability was basically non-existent, but its not like we threw the ball enough in a non-archaic offense that would showed otherwise. He definitely improved as a runner, and made great decisions out of the run option, especially later in the season.

Honestly who cares? None of those coaches or players are at LSU anymore.

No, but I have two eyes.

For a kid who's dad is an NFL QB coach, he has some bad footwork and other bad tendencies. If those things could be fixed in an off-season, then he probably would have already fixed them. I don't think you'll see any change in his mechanics, etc.
With that said, I think that the offensive scheme and play calling have put him at a complete disadvantage this season. He has potential to make a jump next year based entirely on upgrading the OC.

I would think something as crucial as basic mechanics are tough to correct in-season. My issue is how the hell was this not noticed pre-season? Was he not doing this in camp? Because it showed itself in the first drive against USC.
Can he correct it? Who knows, but I will never make a declarative judgement on a QB after one season ever again. Jaden Daniels broke me of that fallacy.

Jarrett Lee, Brandon Harris, and Jordan Jefferson never saw much improvement.

If you dont think jarrettt lee showed improvement, i dont know what to tell you

Jefferson didn’t really improve. I mean for fricks sake we went like 6 games in a row where he didn’t throw a TD pass in 2010

I don’t think Nuss is awful, but NFL scouts aren’t exactly the best measurement of how good a QB is…they slobbered over Anthony Richardson, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, Daniel Jones, Josh Rosen, Mitchell Trubisky, Blake Bortles, Marcus Mariota, Carson Wentz, etc.
The same scouts that overlooked the best QB in NFL history?
Posted on 11/23/24 at 7:09 am to TexasTiger08
Exactly. Big arm=held in high regard by scouts. This isn't the fricking 80s. The 2 most statistically great qbs in NFL history, Brady and Brees, had noodle arms. They both also had brains, accuracy and an unwavering competitive drive, things Nuss doesn't have.
Posted on 11/23/24 at 8:27 am to Sterling Archer
What QB that turned the ball over at the rate Nuss does magically got better for a full season? The closest comparison for Nuss is Jarrett Lee. Once you go down that road, it's hard to come back.
Posted on 11/23/24 at 8:39 am to Sterling Archer
Cause Nuss has been showing us who he is for years now, even in his limited snaps. You could see signs in the other guys that they were good, and were going to be even better as time went on. Nuss has showed that no matter the situation, their is something going on his brain that just doesnt analyze common sense plays and holds us back.
It’s 2024, you need a dual threat QB or at minimum a QB that others respect. We’re an offense thats suppose to be 3 dimensional, not 2. We’re held back. Opposing defenses are mostly going against 3 dimensional offenses, and when they play us..its much easier to guard.

The thing is, does Nuss look that different than he did as a freshmen against Arkansas
No he doesn’t. Still makes the same dumb mistakes.
People here bring up the improvements Burrow and Daniels made in their second year starting. But ignore that they were not flat out bad in year 1.
And most importantly, as first year starters, they protected the ball and did not turn it over. Like Nuss done his entire career.
Someone can check the numbers but I think Nuss has thrown more interceptions this year than Burrow and Daniels did combined as first year starters.

Nuss is a pocket QB with subpar footwork and decision making. He’s touted as a gunslinger, but he’s really far from that.thats just a sounding piece for LSU fans to justify his terrible play.
Really just a dude that makes bad decisions all of the time and he’s proving he is who he’s always been.
When your a pocket QB who’s not really that good at it and have ZERO ability to create with your feet, well you have a very average team.

As soon as he got hit hard one time by Donta’ Hightower in the 2011 Bama game he went right back to 2008 Jarrett Lee and threw 2 quick interceptions.
He was mentally weak and showed very marginal improvement in his 4 years because of it.
