Sounds like they don't want to piss off the conferences.

This only reads like "there needs to be rules and we support them"

Even though the conferences don't even know the rules... I mean look at Sankey.. doesnt know what 5 for 5 even is or what a pro is.

This will not end well if LSU bucks the system. Hate to say it but we’re fighting a losing battle.

in full :

"The CFP strongly supports the positions and rules of individual conferences concerning the return to college of athletes with professional draft, contract or roster ties. These conference rules are intended to protect the needs, interests and integrity of the sport. The CFP believes that certain clear rules should be followed so that individual institutions fielding FBS football teams know what will be expected of them, and so that the public can have full confidence in the competitive integrity of the sport. Given the ongoing legal proceedings, we will not have further comments on the matter at this time."

We all want clear rules. The rules as set forth are anything but clear.

"These conference rules are intended to punish LSU while allowing Texas to play former pro players" - FIFY

Translation:

"We support the SEC's federal lawsuit but we're smart enough to know it's a frivolous and desperate move which won't prove fruitful, therefore we are choosing to shut the frick up like mature folk and let it play out instead of babbling to the media like gossipy little children."

The CFP just gave everyone a lesson on how to be added as a Defendant to ongoing litigation.

You get added.

You get added.

And you get added.

Yes, this has no teeth. I mean of course it's subjective for non auto bids so they could always drop a school they don't agree withif there's others with same record, but this is them just voicing support for rules
