At the time, when many were crying in their beer and wetting themselves over the “loss” of Herman, a few pointed out that head coaching hires are a crapshoot. There are no lead pipe cinch, home run hires.

Orgeron was the safe hire. He can recruit and motivate. At worst he would leave his successor a good roster (like he did at Ole Miss.

I actually think Herman probably would have succeeded at LSU, he just had no real interest in coming over here and used us as a bargaining chip to get more money from Texas

Jimbo though, we dodged a bullet on that one. aggy should be gunning for the playoffs by now but they're nowhere past looking like an 8-4 squad. I think we would have been wishing for Les Miles to come back if we had gotten Jimbo

Not being able to kiss his players this year has really screwed him up!

Yeah he’s not the answer. We don’t know what the future holds for O, but Herman will never win a NC

O hiring Brady and bringing in Burrow proved to be two of the best head coaching moves in history.

Tom would prob do ok at lsu. LSU is one of the easier schools to succeed at.

Texas has had Ehlinger starting for the last 4 years and minimal coaching changes. They should be way ahead of most teams.

Herman is a cockier Lane Kiffin without the ability to motivate anyone. He's not HC material.

I’ve never seen a HC cry on the sideline unless it was out of happiness. Never seen anything like it. Couldn’t believe my eyes.

I'll say this about O...a national championship, Heisman QB and awards aplenty in his first two full seasons as HC. TH can stay right where he is.

Every school can be good and bad. LSU wasn’t truly committed to wining football until the 2000s. Te 90s were awful. Heck you can see FSU now.

But, Herman would have been wildly more successful at LSU and would have had a great shot at winning it all last year as well. Joe Burrow is and would have always wound up being Joe Burrow.

I disagree. Texas has ample talent on their roster including Ehlinger who was considered a Heisman candidate at one time. They also have unlimited resources. Last season he was 8-5 in a weak Big 12 with losses to Iowa St, TCU, Baylor, OU and LSU. The year before he loses to Ok St and rushes the field and tries to fight the Mullet. He's had multiple internal issues with players turning on him. He's emotionally unstable and can't connect to his players. That wouldn't last long at LSU.

As for Burrow, I know Herman brought him to OSU, but we don't know if he would have already settled on a starter on roster if he was at LSU. He could have gone after Aranda when he got the Texas gig too since they were roomies in college, but my guess is Aranda probably knows what a douche Herman is and would never work for him.

I remember reading the ticker the night it said LSU was close to hiring him. Was watching the game with my Longhorn buddy and was all in his face like "frick you we're LSU!". Mann looking at it now

The funny thing is now the Longhorn faithful are wanting him fired and for UT to go after Urban Meyer.
Horns fans want Tom fired for Meyer
