Can we? Yes. Theoretically any team in the conference still can. Is it very likely? Not really.

Can? Yes.

Will they? Seriously doubt it.

And that's ok.

Its possible, but difficult to say what record is needed because it's so dependant on what other bubble teams do as well as LSU's opponents.

Eta: I'm not saying it's going to happen. These guys don't really seem to know how to win consistently yet. That's a change in the program that takes more than half of a season.

The only way we make it is consistency from Waters, with Reath picking it up...it’s extremely tough to beat us if both those players are on.

Win the next 2 and we have a shot. Chances of winning the next 2 are very slim.

If we go 10-8 in the SEC, which means 7-4 in our last 11 then we’d be a very strong bubble team. 9-9 in the SEC, 6-5 to end the season, still puts us in a position where we could get in with a good SEC tourney performance. A losing record in conference and we’d have to win the SEC tourney.

But as others are saying, barring a total collapse down the stretch this season has been an unqualified success, especially considering how young we are and the talent coming in

Not out of the question. We have some good wins and don't have the aweful losses. SFA is likely a tournament team, Vandy is the only loss so far to a team that is not in the mix for a tournament bid.

9 wins or better in conference puts them in the conversation.

Gotta get to 11-7 in conference to get off the bubble, probably.

Will be very difficult.

Prior to tonight they had A&M in and not us, while we swept them.

Lots of basketball left. Definitely posssible

We probably need 18 or 19 wins heading into the SEC tournament, then we need a win or two just to be on the bubble.

The SEC is considered strong this year, so there's a shot.

Why do you keep throwing up 11-7?

The SEC is strong enough to where any team with a winning record (10-8) in conference will be in.

And to Answer OP's question, Yes but it will very difficult. A win against Auburn Saturday could go a long way. Lots of winnable games down the stretch

Because I'm right.

That's what it will take to definitely get us in the field.

At 20-10 (10-8), our RPI would still be right around 50. Even 1-1 in the conference tournament wouldn't guarantee us a spot in the field. 0-1 in the conference tournament would almost certainly have us out.

So no, 10-8 wouldn't guarantee us a spot in the field.

The SEC is a 7-8 bid league. 10-8 with 2 good OOC wins is a strong resume this year.

Those Georgia and Vandy losses may wind up being too much to overcome. But we’ll see. Also, We can play with anybody, and Waters is the kinda guy that can go crazy for a few straight games in the SEC Tourney. I’m not giving up, but the odds are pretty slim at this point. But again, we’ll see.

I will add that having this sweep over A&M is pretty crucial and could be a deciding factor if both of us are fighting get in. As of now, KenPom projects that both us and A&M are going to finish the SEC with an 8-10 record. The odds of both of us finishing there aren’t likely, but if we both have similar conference records we have a very strong case over them.

In the NFL, 10 wins typically gets one into the playoffs 90% of the time, and 9-7 gives them a fair chance.

In College Basketball, including the conference tourney, for an SEC Team to make the big dance, it typically takes 20 wins. The Tigers have 12 wins to date, there are 11 games left in the regular season, and the conference tournament is single elimination if I'm not mistaken. That means this team would need to win at least 6/7regular season games and 2/1 tournament games to get to 20 wins. Assuming they don't get it done against Tennessee, Auburn, or Florida; that means they would have to get those 6 or 7 wins from Arkansas, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama, Mizzou, Vanderbilt, and Georgia.
