What has he done to be toward the top?

Ed is not getting 7 years at 49 million.

He needs an extension, he needs a raise. He has proved he has more value, he should get it.

Recruits need to see a commitment to the coach as well.

I am not certain we should have fired Miles, I was not a fan of O and I still am not..but I am also not blindly stupid.

He has done a pretty good job, our program is arguably slightly better than with Miles and O should be rewarded.

He has his team toward the top in performance and toward the top in recruiting which indicates we will keep the horses to run with the programs at the top.

Problem is if you give him a raise then there will be an argument for not being able to pay for top coordinators. Again, that was the whole argument for hiring Orgeron in the first place. It baffles me when I see people say he deserves a raise.

He has three years left. Why is a contract extension needed two years into a contract. It's not like another power five school wants him.

Who believes this will not happen given Alleva's history with buyouts.

It starts even higher -- JBE, F King and Alleva are all in this together. Coach O is part of their BS web. Coach O has done much better than I thought he would. Give him a 1 yr extension and keep the remaining total buyout even with the 1 yr extension the same.

F King is a liberal educrat. Alleva is a just a goofy arse pawn. JBE has his political pawns on the board and will have another handful starting next term.

JBE getting ousted will give us hope. But, remember this all started with Mr. Jindal throwing his support for Les Miles the day of the A&M game a couple years ago.

F King does not care about athletics and winning championships. He will keep athletics alive with support but will continue to siphon on money to support his agenda's on the academic side. Check out some of his pet projects -- straight out the public education policy book on reshaping society

This is utter bullshite created by agents.the great recruits only stay 3 years.

Extend him for 5 years and give him zero buyout. I mean he loves lsu right?

And while he is on a 2-year deal, you will also expect him to still be able to convince a recruit on the fence to come play for LSU when my own AD isn't committed enough in me to guarantee I'll be around to see you graduate?

Except we arent on a 2 year deal.

And extension for the results that got the last coach fired?

He isn’t leaving for another school because no other school wants him.

Up until the A&M game, our offense was ranked 104th in the country. Anything that results in LSU getting shackled to Orgeron for the long term should be expressly avoided until he's proven that he can get us where we need to be.

How do you think the fans will react if Orgeron gets an extension with a buyout increase, we stink it up in the bowl game, and he brings Ensminger back next season as OC for another 9-3 result?

It won't be pretty.

Now tell that kid "You sure you want to commit to play for Orgeron. Their own Athletic Department only has him on a 2 year contract. He may not even be there by the time you graduate"

Or O could've not have lost to florida twice, not got boat raced by miss st,not lost to troy, not had a sub par( by lsu standards)1st recruiting class and people wouldnt be upset about extending a coach for results that got a national title winning coach fired.

Miles landed a #7 class as a lame duck that was twisting in the wind a couple months before signing day.

nobody on the planet thought he had any long term stability left at LSU.

so if he can do it, then why does master recruiter Ed O need a long term extension to recruit?

So you agree the extension talk can wait until next year?

I dont know when the proper time is because I dont know when his contract is up. I am not really advocating for extension or termination. I just get frustrated when I see posts from people who do not understand the whole program picture. You cant just leave a coach hanging out on the vine like that and expect the program to get any better.
Not extending a coaches contract at the proper time is a message for him to move on and it usually is done in private and well in advance of the critical time so as not to damage the continuity of the program. An exception to that is when your program is already in the shitter like Johnny Jones got into.

bullshite. LSU is going to fire Ed if they want to no matter how many years he’s got left. That’s nothing but agent speak.

I say let next season play out before you make any moves especially if Ed keeps Ensminger
