Can somebody explain Bediako to me

I know that the standard answer is going to be that it's bama and the rules don't apply to them, but I can't figure it out. Bediako was quite literally a professional for TWO years before attempting to come back to college, which he did under a TRO for 5 games. I know that Sankey filed an affidavit strongly opposing the ruling, but no lawsuit or threat of expulsion. Please help it make sense!!

What’s crazy about that situation… never once did I think about bumping bama from the conference.. REST of the SEC, as Coach would say.. is SOFT.

The “rule” was supposedly not in place so they were not in violation of any SEC rules.
Did they have to forfeit those games?

The diff here is that the SEC didn't set up an immediate vote from the schools to ban players that had a pro-contract. If Sankey was opposed to this and a TRO was enforced to allow Bediako to play, then why didn't Sankey do this rule change in the conference and get a vote then from the schools?
If he had done that then, LSU would've never given a thought to Harris and Wright. But LSU try something similar with Harris and Wright and he calls an emergency session to have a vote on a rule change. These were guys that haven't played in any games and were cut in mini-camps.

Didn’t they go to great lengths a couple weeks ago to say it wasn’t a “new rule” regarding pro players, and they were only reiterating what was already in place?

LSU is not suing the SEC. The players are. This has virtually nothing to do with LSU.

The lawsuit by Wright and Harris will be interesting. I don’t know that the SEC can easily explain away the Bediako situation. Other situations like Trinidad Chambliss getting a 6th year after being denied twice will be tough as well. I really don’t want ex pro’s coming back, but their has to be consistency on the issue.

That should bring into sharp relief the spirits animating the SEC’s lawsuit against LSU.

He did not say that; he is saying the rules have always been what they are now. He did file a brief opposing Bediako, and ultimately they won. Plus, it's basketball. It will never rise to the level of football in how the SEC views anything.
