He can definitely pitch Monday, and will if it gets there.

Three days rest by Monday, with a title on the line, you know he is gonna pitch. Good Lord people. In my day (I'm old) that was the rotation. He is young, saddle that horse.

Skenes was showing signs of fatigue in the 8th inning. I don't think the question is more so about his health, but how many pitches can he realistically be effective on Monday. That being said I think that number would be around 50 and it's his game after the 6th inning.

Just to be clear because dumbasses will always dumbass, YES I do care about his health and his future and all that and so does LSU. Him being extended ONCE all season above normal...ie starting on 3 days rest or pitching on 3 days rest isn't going to be an issue. Extended overuse and bad mechanics is what causes the bulk of arm injuries. Neither of that is a problem for Skenes right now

Yea, this.

He'd likely throw Jay and Wes Johnson over the top of the dugout if they tried to keep him out of game 3.

No, that’s an$8 million bonus you putting at risk without prerequisite medical knowledge. If after all the recovery and strength testing on Monday and his parents and agent agree maybe 1 inning. Maybe

He'll start Monday if it's needed

100%. If we get the lead with an inning or two to go he’s coming in

THIS, and that would be the extent of it. To close out the game.
CJJ is not going to put PS in a bad situation.

There is plenty of analytical data regarding MLB pitchers throwing on short rest in the postseason. Bleacher Report

With most MLB guys on standard 4 days rest, considering Skenes just threw on 4 days rest, and with the amount of treatment they give his arm, he will be perfectly fine to throw on short rest on Monday. Most guys on short rest will throw half of their normal work load.

Also consider his motion is very fluid and he doesn’t put significant stress on his elbow, I would expect him to be prepared to go, both mentally and physically.

Can he? Yes

Will he? That gonna be a decision between him, his people and Coach JJ.

They were talking about it yesterday, Skenes doesn't tax himself like other pitchers, if you notice even after 120 pitches he doesn't look like he's hurting, sore, or even very tired. His movement is so smooth and effortless. His arm movement doesn't tex his elbow like most. So his recovery doesn't take as long as many pitchers but again that decision will be with him and Coach JJ with I'm sure alot of input from his parents and people around him

This.

ETA:

Another scenario which I hope we’re in is if we win game 1 and are leading game 2, I could see him closing game 2 for the last inning.

Skenes closing out a LSU CWS Title would be a fairy tale ending. If it works out that him pitching would be his normal live BP session then I feel like it’s a no brainer that you do it.
