You never know in recruiting. There is no sure thing. He can still develop into a good QB but maybe he needs a change of scenery.

It's hard to be motivated after securing 12 million! Most don't see that kind of wealth ever even after decades of working.

Bryce did nothing wrong in any of this. Kid wanted to play at LSU, but his home team set him and his family up for life. Can’t blame him for following the money as we all would have done the same

He goes to Michigan and isn’t the second coming…sorry suckas, give the kid his money.

The kid was never going to succeed here. His price as an unproven player would have done a few things:

1. Animosity in the locker room. No one is sitting a 6-million-dollar guy on the bench.

2. It would put undue pressure on the kid. Unless he has a ton of fortitude, the pressure of being LSU's QB would be worse than what Nuss saw last year. Every throw, every sack, every roll out would be criticized if it didn't lead to a touchdown.

3. People would be really pissed when he transferred out and we paid him. Hopefully we had his deal structured correctly which I doubt.

4. We would still have BK and Sloan, making his success here almost impossible.

I always hoped he wouldn't come here. The spotlight on that kid set him up to fail. Especially with the crap regime that was here at the time.

BU is a prime example of great high school players going to college that prove that being able to run fast and jump high is not the only prerequisite to be in a good quarterback at next level.

Underwood is also dealing with the mess at Michigan and new coaching staff. I don't think they picked the best coach to help the program along after this controversy with previous guy. He was very underwhelming last season but was a freshman, so I cut him slack. Now he has new system to learn and if he doesn't have the smarts and work ethic master it, then he won't succeed. A lot of these guys just rely on their physical skills to get by. It is a diff animal in college and then in pros.
He needs a coach that will develop him and light a fire under his @ss. You have Community College QBs with much more success than him when paired with the right coach.
I kind of worry about the same thing with Pop Houston. He seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and more of a pocket passer, but it still requires lots of work and committment.

Dodged a bullet on that one. Looks like a 5-star bust.

Another angle in how this led us to present day:

When Underwood backed out it freed up a ton of cash for the roster. We used it and spent big last offseason. Remember Lane getting asked about our defense last year before we played OM, he was pretty blunt and said basically, “they have really good DBs, they went in the portal and spent for the 3 most expensive guys.” OM wanted those guys and got outbid by LSU. Meanwhile he was starting Sage Ryan.

Seeing our willingness to invest in an expensive roster even with that lazy coaching staff definitely factored into LK’s decision to choose LSU.

Due to the resulting mass chain of events, the Underwood flip could turn out to be the biggest bullet dodged by LSU in program history. TYFYS douche Portnoy.

I’m not an Underwood fan, nor am I a Michigan fan, but why do people pretend like he’d get the same results at a different place, under a different coach?

Similar to Bo Nix maybe. Felt overrated and dog crap at auburn, turned into a Heisman finalist at Oregon.

That kid got paid and checked out. His attitude in that press conference made that clear.

Doesn’t even acknowledge he needs to play better. Just says “that’s cool”. Thats the attitude of someone who doesn’t give a frick.

I hope he invested some of that 12 mil, because it’s the last money he’ll see from playing football.

I would agree. Then I remember that Anthony Richardson had similar stats, was picked #4 overall, and has made almost $34 million in career earnings.

Basically, some GM is going to go full "muh measurables" and throw money at Underwood thinking, "I can fix him".

Portnoy has hard on for LSU for some reason. After Michigan pulled Underwood from LSU, allegedly with his assistance, he made a post on social media taking a shot at LSU and claiming Michigan does things "the right way...the Michigan way." I don't recall the specifics of the post, but he clearly went out of his way to cheap shot LSU.

Portnoy can choke on a bag of VD infested Portnoy's for all I care.
