They'll all ignore you just like they ignored everyone else who brings this up.

Rumor has it they were working on two particular routes: The "post" and "come back".

Hiding behind a car gives a cop reasonable suspicion someone has a weapon?
No, it prevents the cops from determining you don't have a weapon.
Until you determine there is no threat you presume a threat exists. That's what police and military are trained to do. That's what we were trained on pre-deployment combat training and that's what they teach at the police academy.

Good cops communicate well & understand how to read a situation.
And intelligent citizens comply with their directions, instead of turning their backs to them and sticking their hands in their pockets when asked to put their hands on the car.

I think They should only stop people if they think a crime is ongoing or happened.
And also yeah, they definitely shouldn’t pull their gun if they don’t think a crime is happening/about to happen.

No one is arguing that they should not have been questioned. Stopping to question them does not mean there is reasonable suspicion that they have a weapon. Those things are not tied together

Since the officers clearly drove by non-hiding black people and approached only the black people who were actively hiding, that should mean that race had nothing to do with this stop, correct?

What? Sammy is.

quote:Hiding when the cops come does though. Why can't you admit they were hiding? Why ignore it? That's what singled them out. You said it was because they were black, but that's disproved by the other black people the cops passed by. This all started because they were hiding. Hiding is suspicious behavior yes? At the very least right?

So then you’re okay with the cops stopping Moore and his friend?

But they did suspect something was going on which means you’re okay with what they did.

What crime did they think they were doing? Again, no reports of people breaking into cars.
No reports of drug deals.
I am saying cops should be generally less aggressive getting into these situations. Sorry but this situation didn’t benefit anyone.

Correct. But, they did not comply when asked to put their hands on the car, which is routine Police training for safety. Instead, one turned his back and put his hands towards his pockets. The cop now has every reason to draw his weapon as a defensive measure until he complies and that is when he drew the weapon.
Had both placed their hands on the car, I would bet the weapons would have never been drawn.

It can be any number of crimes to include breaking into cars. That’s a regular occurrence at apartment parking garages by the way. They don’t have to know that a particular crime has been or is going to be committed. The behavior is indicative of that of someone who has committed, is committing, or about to commit a crime. It does not matter that the police don’t know what particular crime that is.

So you think LEOs only find crimes when people report them? And they never find other crimes when investigating the ones there were called to the scene about?

That’s my point.
I don’t agree that cops should just be able to stop someone just because of their “indicative behavior”
That’s bullshite.
These kids did nothing wrong they shouldn’t have to worry about getting stopped by the cops.
