?? How did you get that from his statement below?? He could have been talking about coaches, he could have been talking about Myles, the OL, WRs.

There’s a lot of stuff that went on behind closed doors that I don’t want to throw out to the media,” Finley said. “It’s difficult to talk about, really. I can just say this: We competed. We made each other better. I’m not going to talk bad about anything.”

This is the attitude all kids should take into competition. My kid went through the same thing as an outsider on a new team pushing the starter for his spot.
You tell the other guy, hey, we don't have to like each other, but I'm gonna push the hell out of you and you push the hell out of me. In that, we make the TEAM better and we both get better.

No where does it hint at a rift with Johnson, if anything he just probably felt like he wasn’t given much of a chance in terms of first team reps in contrast to the other 2 returning quarterbacks

The dude had a chance to keep the starting job and failed.
He failed, we all do and it's not a big deal. He had someone better in front of him. He will pick somewhere with less competition, which is not how you develop as a QB.

He would never step foot on the field at bama, not even in mop up

Hmm...wonder what that could have been about?

Not really arguing against that. He was always entering spring third string based on Brennan’s return and Max’s strong finish
Assuming some kind of beef between the qb’s based off that quote is laughable however

How much development do you think the 3rd string QB gets at any program? With the restricted amount of practice time and reps, he's not going to be doing much other than taking limited snaps and throwing balls to walk-ons, freshman, and graduate assistants
His best bet to transfer to a CUSA level school and play right away, and get starter reps and attention

He was first team for a while last year.
He's third string because the others are better, and that's what the offseason is for.

Worked for Joe Burrow

According to Finley, he also has communicated with "Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia, Mississippi State --and really, the majority of the SEC schools."

Burrow transferred before his second year on campus to a place with less competition?

quote:so Alabama and Auburn are clearly not actual options available to him
He said his most important quality in picking a new school is the ability to start this year.

Hopefully there’s no butthurt from current players because TJ isn’t good enough and transferred. I seem to remember rumblings when Burrow was brought in and passed up Justin McMillan and Lowell Narcisse

quote:florida has Emory Jones; he’s been in Mullen’s system for what, 3 years? Finley would not start at UF either.
If he wants to play right away Houston is by far the best bet of the schools listed. Including Texas and Florida in that.

what was the drama? that max was a better qb?
I feel like once he started and o pulled him, it was over. His family thinks he is an nfl qb.
I'd love to know what he thinks happened with max johnson.
Max johnson is one of the nicest, most polite kids on the team.

He’d at least have a chance at Florida. Emory Jones hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire when he’s been on the field. I think he would be smart to go to ULL and play under Billy Napier or even LA Tech or SMU but I think he and his family think he’s deserving to be a power 5 starter next season and that just isn’t the case. If he stayed in the SEC then the best spot IMO would be Arkansas.
