Every team has bad games in the midst of a season. Games they should have won by a larger margin. If anyone thinks Clemson will play in the National championship game the way they played against UNC, they are out of their minds. It’s totally irrelevant.

Just like LSU won’t play like we did in the second half against Ole Miss. Teams lose focus. It happens. Those are outliers.

I actually agree with you on this. LSU's worse game of the year was Auburn, and we only won by 3 points even though we beat the shite out of them in every other statistical category.

Its going to be fun either way because we get to see the legit best two teams in the country on monday.

Agreed. Problem I have is that NO ONE brings the UNC game up when talking about the great Brent Venables but EVERYONE brings up the Ole Miss game when taking about Aranda.

Ok. Clemson struggled with an overated OSU team. LSU made it look EASY against OU. How's that.

So why are you bringing it up?

But seriously, it doesn't matter how light Clemson's schedule was. They have proven in the past that it doesn't matter. It will come down to who can execute better. And based on what we've seen all year, I like LSU's chances.

Tells us not to bring a game up by bringing that very game up.

I somewhat agree however Clemson fans keep saying they blew everybody out this year but seem to skip over that NC game.
LSU had over 500 yards against Auburn and 700 yards of offense against Ole Miss.

Clemson's stats against NC were not good at all so there is a difference.

No more dumb than talking about them thrashing Bama last year or the 29 game win streak

The issue for me is the comparison based on LSU being up 4 touchdowns in prevent defense missing the “read” on the zone read with back-ups on the field (except Patrick Queen who bit out of position). We controlled the entire game minus two busted plays during an early start to garbage time! Whereas Clemson was never in control of that game against UNC and there was no garbage time. So for the commentary meme generators on TV it’s garbage-in and garbage-out! No comparison because it’s all garbage!

Geaux Tigers ??!!!

Oh and frick BAMA!!

Valid point. I will add one caveat though. Since Clemson lost to Alabama in 2015 Dabo has managed the season differently. He breaks it into 3 different "seasons" with the idea of peaking at the post season. I'm not sure whether it is the massive amount of subs he plays, vanilla offense, or what.. but the Clemson offense never seems to really get going until around game 5 or 6. The scores sometimes don't show it.. but every year we seem to start out wondering where the consistency of the offense is. Clemson scores on big plays during that time but rarely has longer sustained drives. You saw that again this year up through the UNC game.

Even though that game was way too close for comfort... people seem to forget that even if UNC makes the 2 point conversion, TL would have had 1:15 to drive down and get into field goal range to win. The 2 point conversion attempt ended the game, but it wouldn't have been over yet if they had made it.

No. Of course not. I even said that in the OP. And it wasn’t the Ole Miss GAME. It was the Ole Miss 2nd half.

Both should be ignored.

That’s what LSU’s defense did this year.

New players. Devin White, our award winning MLB and defense’s QB needing to be replaced, Aranda putting in zone schemes, players hurt and suspended. Everything started coming together AFTER the Ole Miss game and for the past 4 games, LSU has been one of the best defenses in the country. They shut down Georgia and Oklahoma.

Now, we get Divinity back, Delpit is 100%, and the defense is clicking, disrespected, and hungry.

I agree we should stop talking about UNC. But, the posters here are right that pundits are unable to forget the second half of Ole Miss. it’s irrelevant.

Actually, not bringing it up is dumb...and here's why.

Every team will have a bad game, so that means LSU had one as well....We still won ours by 21 points.

Even when our Defense executed the worst, against a bad team, we still covered the spread and didn't need the other team to fail on a 2pt conversion to win.

My point is, their floor...is REALLY REALLY LOW.
Our floor, was 21 points better than our opponent.

so sure, if our Defense sucks as against OM, it could give up 34, but most likely, our Offense will score in the 40's.

If their offense sucks, as it did against UNC, and they only score 21, their team is almost assured to lose.

We have more room for margin of error.

Agreed. Clemson has delivered arse kickings in every game except at UNC, so it’s clearly an outlier to the norm.

Can’t wait for Monday though. I’m sick of the chirping

You make the exact same point as the OP. He was downvoted 15-10. You were upvoted almost unanimously. The Rant is a strange place.

Exactly. Nothing that happened 7 games ago is relevant. These are completely different teams. The only thing that matters is how they are playing now. TL through like 8 picks in the first 5 or 6 games and hasn't thrown one since. The LSU defense seems to be playing lights out. Can't wait to watch this game!
