The writing may be on the wall for the end of Matt House. This is the very first thing Kelly brought up when asked about personnel improvements at press conference this morning:

Look, here’s what I can tell you. I was three games into a season in 2016 at Notre Dame and had to fire my defensive coordinator, and he was in my wedding.

Potentially. Just a matter of time to see what Kelly does.

Its either that or BK saying that he knows when to pull the plug on a coach so if he keeps House its because he views him as deserving to keep the job and not because he's afraid to make a change.

Look, I think he should fire House too. But the reality is that we aren't in the meeting rooms and don't know the calls. What if BK thinks the real issue is the position coaches and that House called good defenses that just weren't executed properly?

That’s making an argument that IF he thinks House should stay, he’ll stay.

The melt when it's announced he'll be back will be of epic proportions

House understands this business and I'm guessing he's gotten enough butt chewings this season to realize the buck stops with him on that side of the ball.
I'm sure several meetings have already been held to determine next course of action for the defensive staff going forward. We will all find out in due time.

I don't think the defense was as bad last season and House coordinated that defense and the second half adjustments last season ultimately won LSU some games when the offense really struggled, whether it was Miss St, Auburn and Ole Miss, all games you needed stops in the second half and got them and that was two prolific offenses in leach and kiffin from last year.

It starts with figuring out the defensive line situation and I do think some help is needed at defensive back and overall defensive recruiting. The personnel was lacking at all three levels of the defense this year and it starts with better personnel and/or more experienced players especially in the secondary which you had last season. I do think the schemewise development of Perkins was mishandled.

So why the frick did you wait till the end of this season to make a decision on House instead of canning his arse when we could already see the writing on the wall?

I don't think there will be an announcement that he's coming back; just no announcement that he's leaving.

His contract and his inability to be terminated creates a much different scenario vs what he had at ND.

That said, if termination of staff is what he sees as the best option, then I feel BK has the cajoles to get it done.

Not on one person??? Ask Les miles if a stagnant offense cost him a job…. Don’t be like Les with your defense.. recruiting is down also….

Did u really listen to the press conference? He stated if it was "that" easy to just change the leadership then he wasn't afraid to do that. That's the reason for the example of firing the DC in 3 games... in 2016 he evidently felt that the DC was the problem and a change would make things better... Obviously he didn't feel that only changing the DC would fix it. So if you see multiple (personal, coaching, etc) problem areas then maybe you do your best to manage the remaining season before you start changing all the things. This is what tells me it's not just one thing or one person...

As a leader of a business, team, or whatever.... sometimes you have to play the cards you have until you can shuffle the deck.

Could he be saying that if I keep him, it’s not because of loyalty, but because he will turn it around?
