This. You have 10 fall/spring semesters to at 8.

He has one season of eligibility in a sport besides basketball. He can be on scholarship if LSU wants to grant him a football scholarship. He will cease to be on basketball scholarship after this semester.

He would need to play DE. Has concrete blocks for hands.

The people in this thread prove why you can't believe 90 percent of the crap on here. Not the OP. Just most of this other crap. Ignorance at its finest

Pretty sure what he's saying is if you are on scholarship it has to count towards the football team. Meaning he can be a scholarship TE who walks onto the basketball team but not the other way around.
Only if he plays in a game. Chris Sciambre and Jared Foster are both examples of football walk-ons on scholarship with another sport.
Though I guess that would only apply if he were still on a basketball scholarship.

His brother Brad seemed to be a much more explosive player...although he was limited in skill. His brother would have made a much better TE, IMO.

He can be a walkon and pay his own way as his eligibility for basketball and subsequent scholarship are used up..

No shite my boy, didn't you say he ain't walking on while on scholarship for basketball? Doesn't that show it's not crazy for a scholarship player to walk on for another sport. Get your argument together my boy you slackin.

Pretty sure he has another 4 years of eligibility right since he hasn't been on the football team at all? Even if he just gets 1 year, he can make a name for himself. He's gonna need to cut some bad weight if he wants to play TE though.
Exactly right. Then, after football, he can go out for trackand, after 4 years, he could go out for baseball. Literally, he could stay here 20 yrs and just keep switching sports

Your baseball players example is wrong. Baseball players only get partial scholarships, so all of them pay some tuition. They can technically "walk-on" to football team

baseball players can get full scholarships if the coaching staff chooses to allocate them in that manner.
That being said, baseball only has 11.7, basketball has 13, football has 937.

He might as well. He has nothing to lose. He can work out with FB in the spring and they can see if he has any potential. At 6'5 285 lbs, if he could develop some footwork, maybe he could develop into a OL or DL.

About friggin time, no need for a heavy, short PF that can't jump. Could def use him as TE though, has good hands

You ever hear of Julius peppers?

I have never heard that before simply because I have never heard of it being done before (basketball to FB)
If you were a Saints fan, you would have heard 'bout Jimmy Graham

What took him so long? It's not like he has been getting any minutes these last few years.

He doesn't have the work ethic to make such a change imo.

I think once you began participating in athletics your eligibility clock starts ticking. I could be wrong, but my understanding was that eligibility didn't start until you played sports.
If you don't play any sports for your first year (or entire undergraduate for that matter), you'd still have eligibility if for whatever reason you decided to play sports in graduate school.
Maybe I'm wrong, but that was my understanding. I'm pretty sure I've heard stories of students who didn't start playing sports until several years into school and others who didn't play in undergrad but did in graduate school.
Obviously, these instances are rare and almost always involve walk-ons at small schools, but unless I totally misinterpreted the conversation (from a source I considered credible), he was wrong or the rule was changed, I don't think eligibility starts until you unroll in athletics.
If someone knows for certain and cares to correct me, please by all means do so.
If I am right, it would have no impact on Bridgewater because he's been playing for 3 years.

Hopefully it's true. This guy looks the part of a football player. Basketball should have never been the choice over football.
