My guess would be that SE moves to a consultative role on the staff.
I'm guessing that Brady's weakness (in relative terms) is in game planning. For one thing, it's different enough in CFB from the NFL simply because of time constraints, sometimes resources (which IMHO we have covered), and simply because of the players.

I think CSE's weakness is in-game adjustments. He's got that 'coach habit' of reverting to what's worked in the past. And it is self-defeating (a good opponent has adjusted to what worked in the past, it won't work as good the next time... law of diminishing returns).

So, CSE as a consultant (or TE coach) can certainly be heavily involved in game planning. So yes, I see that in the future. Frankly, he is going to want to relinquish some duties, simply from a stress point of view and 'quality of life'.

NOTE: both are good 'teachers', coaches in the literal sense of the word. It's a known fact about CSE. As far as Brady, I'm basing that on the WRs primarily, but also including the offense as a whole. There is no way, in year 1 of this offense, it could be running like it is without Brady being a good teacher. Just the communication of the reads/plays/formations has Brady's fingerprints all over it. No delay of games, no regular personnel package confusion, etc. That's good teaching to START with that level of efficiency.

From everything I've read, Brady is meticulous with attention to detail. End-product on the field reflects that.

Coach E is a true Tiger. He has done anything and everything asked of him to make this football team better.

Couldn't agree more. Slinger bleeds purple and gold.

Not bad for the next billy Gonzales

People downvoted but I thought it was funny especially since the hype was pretty high for Billy. I did worry it would be the same but Brady has put that to rest.

O deserves a lot of credit for building this staff.

In all fairness he just retained Mile's staff and struck gold with Brady in his third year but I will take it.

I'm calling a Slinger retirement after this season with Brady being named full time OC.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they just switched roles or if E went back to being a position coach. He seems an LSU-first guy and very humble.

Nope. State retirement man. He’s got one more year after this one for sure. He retires on his highest 3 years of salary. If he retires this year, he’s taking a pretty big hit on his retirement.

Sorry for the down vote. Big fingered it. Meant it as an up for the respect for Coach E.

You guys don’t keep. Ensminger’s contract was just extended thru 2020. Brady might get a big raise, but he will not be OC next year. When he is ready he will get but not next year. I am sure all this has been talked about by everybody. He knows where he stands.

I'm going to guess it's the other way around:
Brady can come up with a great creative gameplan, but has trouble adjusting on the fly. Simply because he's yet to have to do that, play after play, on the clock.

Ensminger lacks the creativity and forward-thinking approach to come up with a great gameplan, but he's been doing this awhile and probably spots what is and isn't working, pretty quick. His problem (and LSU's), has been that he hasn't had the options in the playbook. He probably can see "well, if we do this and flood that zone, we'd move right down the field on them"... but those plays weren't installed.

I THINK that's part of the reason we've been so aggressive later in games, rather than shut things down and play safe. It isn't just Brady's new scheme, it's Ensminger getting to call a whole new play set. He's having fun.
And this helps Brady's development, the more they call "for real", the quicker he's going to get up to speed as the primary playcaller.

Depending on how well Brady does next season as full time OC he may be on the road to a HC gig. Woody will have a tough decision on his hands.

He made the decisions, he gets the credit. This is from a guy that was screaming curse words at the radio when the hire O propaganda was pouring in from 104.5 good ole boys.
