I think Aranda would honestly be a better recruiter here then people think. All he has to do is turn on film of guys he has coached up while here (Devin White, Queen, Chassion, Adams, etc.), if he gets himself a strong coordinator this would be a dangerous program on the rise again. He’s very cerebral, quiet but what he says is effective and gets through to players. I want to say it was Phillips or White who said in an interview “I don’t think I’ve heard him yell even once”, guys respect him because he knows what he’s talking about and has a track record to prove it. If we can’t get Riley, I think Aranda would be a long term great hire. So much upside

I think Aranda should be able to evaluate talent quite well, and that can overcome a deficiency in recruiting. Plus he seems to do a pretty good job of developing talent as well (especially those LBs).

I hope we get Aranda.

Aranda is an excellent coach who is probably about to win like 10 games in year 2 at Baylor after being one of the best DC’s in the country for a decade
Compare and contrast ARANDA and SHRIMPY.

Aranda is Mensa and Shrimpy is the Men's Restroom at 7-11.

The ones more likely are Aranda, Napier or Tucker. Noted that Tucker’s offense is not as high powered as LSU would like, that he would need to hire a really good OC.

Hiring Aranda would be a mistake. As not only is he very unproven, but he was a major liability on the recruiting trail.

Napier is a good group of five head coach, but the P5 level is a completely different animal.

Meanwhile, Tucker is like Aranda, totally unproven at this point.

Hiring anyone of those coaches would be rolling the dice, which LSU can't afford to do.

The coach who should become the next head football coach of LSU is a no brainer. It's Lane Kiffin.

In fact, if Woodward makes the idiotic mistake of letting Lane Kiffin remain at Ole Miss, it won't be long at all before Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss will not only be beating LSU on the recruiting trail, but also on the football field every year.

Hence, Woodward better steal Lane Kiffin away from Ole Miss to make him the new head football coach of LSU. If Woodward doesn't steal Lane Kiffin away from Ole Miss, then it means that Woodward is terribly incompetent.

Sure Lane Kiffin has some skeletons in his closet, but so does all the other candidates as well. Lane Kiffin's skeletons are just more publicized because they happened on a bigger stage.

Nonetheless, there isn't a better coach in America to coach up Garrett Nussmeier and Walker Howard. As Lane Kiffin either has the best offensive mind in college football or if not, he is at least in the top-three that's for sure.

I mean, if Lane Kiffin isn't hired, LSU fans 30 years from now will be looking back and saying, "you know, LSU had the perfect opportunity to hire Lane Kiffin, but made the stupid mistake of hiring someone else? I mean, how stupid could the administration at LSU have been back then?"

Not to mention that Lane Kiffin is on Ed Orgeron's level on the recruiting trail.

all you guys criticizing O because of this rumor forget what the forum was like in 2019???

So you're going to run with a rumor from two years ago. What he did, actually didn't do, in 2019 is irrelevant. If you think he had a huge impact in his coaching ability in 2019 and that's what led to us winning the natty, you're mistaken.

He was a glorified cheerleader and was happy to reap the benefits of those assistants around him. The more this goes on, it's obvious it didn't happen because of Ed, it happened in spite of him.

If he was such a great HC, why did we look so bad last year? Why do we look so bad this year? Why are kids bailing to the transfer portal? Why don't we even have enough players to practice? All of these are legitimate questions.

quote:

90% of the people here wanted Aranda fired, especially after the Ole Miss game.

What?

90%? Some may have had knee jerk reactions but to say 90% of people wanted Aranda fired for that game alone is ridiculous.

And look how his defense ended the season. Do you really think we win that championship without his defense? That's on Aranda. At least he knows what he's doing unlike the current HC.

quote:

Don’t act like people weren’t upset at the guy.

Yeah I was upset, that doesn't mean I want him fired. It was one game. Which we won.

Regardless, let's look at the current state of the program. Are you happy with it? If not why? Not trying to be a jerk, I"m just asking.

Already into Tier 2 coach acceptance saying how anybody can win rings at LSU
Sure was a long dry spell between Dietzel and Saban. And Ogre has us in as bad of a program as when Saban took over.
LSU needs a great coach.

Not really. Just O loyalist really. If I recall 2019 Prate King hated aranda but loved O.

Most people on the site really liked aranda but were displeased with how the defense was playing through the first few games. Only a handful were calling for Aranda to be fired.

Any reason Pirate’s opinions should have any merit given the trajectory of Aranda vs O? Amazingly he continues to double down even in this thread!

you idiots on this board don't seem to remember or understand that Aranda had long been figured out. He couldn't stop Texas, Vanderbilt, or a freshman qb at Ole Miss and you people still think we had some all world defense his last couple years. Aranda's defense had become much like O now, crap.

NOT hiring Aranda may be a big mistake also.

Have you seen Orgeron record BEFORE he became Head Coach at LSU. shite, you won't to talk about unproven???

I would gladly take Aranda over Kiffin for the LONG HAUL of the program. With Aranda, you know the damn program will be run the right way, with Kiffin, you will always be looking over your shoulders with the NCAA sniffing around because Kiffin is just like Orgeron in some regards.

You probably said the same shite when Les was fired. Tom Herman was the hot name then and look how that played out. Ed Orgeron and Les Miles won the Natty here at LSU. Name me another school the BOTH of them could have accomplished that. The PROGRAM is bigger than any ONE COACH.

We are screwed if we hire Aranda. You guys act like great OC's are easy to find. When you do get lucky enough to find one they bolt for better jobs within a year or two so you are starting from scratch all over again.

Burrow proved to beat Bama you have to have elite QB play. 5 star QB recruits ill NEVER come to LSU if Aranda is the coach. For this reason Aranda would be a horrible hire.

The hire needs to be Kiffin or Freeze if we want a team that will compete for national championships.

I actually agree with you but your argument is still flawed.

Look at Kirby he's landed so many 5* QBs with such shitty OC. I still don't think Monken is elite by any means either.

But, Aranda is a cerebral coach who will address that. Can it happen as quickly as we fans would like? Probably not but he would adapt.

I knew O was done when he threw aranda under the bus
Part of the reason O got the job was alleva made him keep aranda
I’m sure that pissed him off

A good portion of the fans on this site wanted Aranda gone in 2019. Especially after the 2019 Ole Miss game where John Rhyse Plumlee gutted us on the ground. Looks like Coach O was taking advice from tRant. Lol
