Who would you say is a better blocker. Boone? Or Shep? And why is James Wright not a party to this dumb thread?

And if you don't think blocking from the WR position is important on this team, then you are clueless about the LSU offense.

Yep what I take away from the WR is that coming in we had OBJ and now we know for damn sure that we have OBJ AND JL. And to fill out the thirds spot we have Wright and wow even boone and even shep to come in for a few snaps.

WR was a position I thought we would be solid at and this game confirms. You always need at least to studs and we have a minimium of two and maybe 4!

i disagree; if 74 hadn't been downfield on that play and shep's touchdown stood you wouldn't have started this thread. it's one game try not to be so reactionary.

But there just isn't any way to justify a larger role in the offense than what he has.

i don't think anyone is doing this.

but, players get better. To say Boone should start over him is stupid at this point.

true, but he would've started another stupid one, so it all comes out in the wash...

It has been a recurring theme on this board that he is under utilized and needs more touches, and one person in this thread even said the same.

I think when most people say that, they are talking about his role in the wildcat in his first 2 years. He needs more plays from that formation. I am attempting to separate the 2.

his best plays at LSU have came running out of the wildcat. explosive plays. Yet he gets no action in that formation.

He has been wasted.

Not talking about his role as a WR. He needs to show more there to earn time. BUt he has proven to be explosive in the running game early in his career. No doubt about it.

I can see where you're coming from with that distinction. But even as a runner he needs a lot of open space and I think the wildcat fad has nearly run its course. Maybe we'll see it some later in the year.

he averages 6.6 YPC carry as a runner. I realize we have great RBs, but that is as good or better than any of our RBs.

with that being said, his carries have went down each year, from 45, to 32, to only 7 last year.

so when i say expanded role, that is what i mean. But if you buy into the patter, it assuredly wont happen.

He has to prove more at WR to get more touches there, but i think this will be his best season yet.

Shepard has a specific role...one that Boone can't play.

Starting is just one play. It doesn't mean anything.

when was the last time team had a receiver you could call sure haneded (M. Clayton?) Of course I follow this team more than others but LSU seems to have great specimes who can not catch the way you want them too

When Shep dropped the TD pass, it was as if his reaction said "that's it. I will never be what I thought I'd be."

Look, Shep is the most under utilized player we have. He got one rush. one catch for 11 yards. He had the TD called back... that's really unfortunate and yes the drop.

The man needs MORE touches. He'll never produce if he can't get his own rhythm and confidence up.

They just don't need him enough to do this

I know it has to be frustrating for him, but damn.. can't depend on him if he's just going to keep dropping passes
