Shep dropped a lot of balls last year, and dropped another tonight.
We all know he's talented, but he's failed to consistently produce.

This dumb arse thread should have never been started anyway. They are two different types of players with different skill sets, but as always the fans know better than the coaches when it comes to these things.

Well, his team mates and a lot of fans call him ODB. You know, O DELL BECKHAM?
Maybe that's why he was confused?

Look, Shep is the most under utilized player we have. He got one rush. one catch for 11 yards. He had the TD called back... that's really unfortunate and yes the drop.
The man needs MORE touches
He doesn't need more touches nor more balls thrown his way. He doesn't make people miss, he doesn't break tackles, and his hands aren't all that good.

All this
He can't break tackles, catch, or outrun everyone consistently. His problem is he doesn't have a position. He's not big enough or strong enough to be a RB, doesn't have good enough hands to be a WR, and doesn't have the arm to be a QB.
From what I've heard/seen, the kid works his arse off, but just can't put it all together.

you know what... maybe you guys are right. maybe he's awful? maybe we should kick him off the team if he's so bad... I'm gonna look up and see how bad he is...
LINK
yeah... no misses... no outrunning.. frick that guy

So you post a video that is three years old of him playing qb and taking hand offs?
Posted on 9/2/12 at 12:51 am to pmizzle
Nobody said to kick him off. He will have a role, but a minimal one. Giving him more touches is simply not justified when we have better receivers, better runners, and guys that are better in space.

Boone has been ready to play for 2 years, blame your passing game coordinator......whoever that is
Posted on 9/2/12 at 12:53 am to TheDoc
Shep caught a TD pass that was called back for a borderline illegal receiver downfield call.
Just saying. Nice TD by Boone, though.

On top of that, why would you beg Shepard to come back to the team and then try to justify it with all the bubble screens?

"Try throwing dOwn field first"
Yeah when you don't throw downfield the rest of your passing game isn't going to work either, that being the plethora of throws behind the line of scrimmage.

I'm not trying to be negative because I love the kid, but if some of your best highlights in 3 years are 3-5 yard rushes, I think the problem speaks for itself. He's about a 4.5 guy that has the problems I listed. Idk if miles would use him in the QB role again since Mett is entrenched there, but direct snaps is where he does a lot of damage

"The man needs MORE touches. He'll never produce if he can't get his own rhythm and confidence up."
When running the ball is 75% of your offense and there are 4 to 5 other WR's that can catch the ball, you don't get to get in a rhythym and gain confidence............you had 4 years of practice to get that, if you didn't get it you can let the true WR's play. When your number is called you make a play or someone else takes your job, no one else seems to have a problem with this. Oklahoma State surely doesn't.

as a FR and SOPH he was the most explosive player on the team. He just never got the ball extensively in situations he could thrive in. When he did, he made the most out of them.
aNd here people are ragging on him for dropping a bubble screen thrown behind him tonight, yet no one mentions the TD catch called back he had where he put a nice double move on the defensive back
he's just a kid people love to hate. When in reality, he has always been misused

Nobody hates him. He has always been a great representative of the program. But there just isn't any way to justify a larger role in the offense than what he has.
