There are some player problems.

Some of its on O (2018 was a bust for CBS and now we only have young CBs)

Some of it is just the nature of recruiting and losing as many as we did. We have Returning 3 starters and they’re Stingley, Stevens and Logan. I think Our usage of Stevens since MSU has been terrible.

I think Bo shares some blame. We looking clueless as times. We play Man 1 all game and I think We’re either 3-0 or 2-1.

LSU PR is getting cranked up on the message boards again. Now defend Bo seems to be the narrative.

I notice you didn’t bother explaining this and instead just repeated yourself:

Everyone wants to bash the coaches for their calls, when in reality we have a roster that is just bad.

So go ahead—what the frick are you talking about?

so if a corporation has bad sales numbers, blame the employees?

If a school has bad test scores, blame the students?

Good lord man, Bo is making $2.3 million per year. He's in charge - the buck stops with him.

Stevens, Stingley and Ricks were all #1 at their position in at least 1 recruiting service. Harris was a high 4 star. Flott and Ward were supposed to be solid players.

Cox was supposed to be a potential 1st rounder. Clark had significant playing experience.

Ika, Logan and Roy are all 4 star rated players and Ali Gaye was expected to be a dynamic pass rusher. Farrell opted back in.

The talent is there and it's absolutely good enough to play better against our first 3 opponents.

Gray—I take it by your razor sharp sarcasm that you agree with OP? Maybe you could explain it better than they did.

How many of LSU starters on defense can start at an Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Clemson?

Actually, it's on both of them.

This is a horrible argument

We have more talent than Tennessee who held Mizzou to 12 points

We have more talent than Arkansas, Kentucky, and aTm, who held Miss State to 14, 2, and 14 respectively

They would all start at Miss St, Vandy, and Mizz. What's the point?

Sure but there is a lot of ground between the best defenses in the country and the worst.
We have guys that would start on a lot of the defenses that are shutting down MSU and Missouri. We have serious issues knowing the defense and we aren’t putting players in the best position to make plays.

This is a coaching, talent and player execution issue.

The fact you included Alabama just confirmed that you don’t know what you’re talking about. They’re not good.

But I’ll still play. Every legit defense has talent across the board with 2 or 3 standouts, and maybe a weak link. Clemson and Ohio State are no exception, and by those standards the individual talent LSU has should be able to compete.

ETA: look no further than this thread right here for proof that your argument sucks:

so bo isn't the one who chose not to call the defense against the Pirate that everyone else in the football world knows to call?

When you have opponents running without a player within 20 yards of them, its a coaching issue.

Do you believe Arkansas and Kentucky have better defensive personnel than LSU?

Here is LSU's starting 11 at Mizzou:
Elias Ricks - 5*
Derek Stingley - 5*
Maurice Hampton - 4*
JaCoby Stevens - 5*
Todd Harris - 4*
Jabril Cox - NR
Damone Clark - 4*
Ali Gaye - 3*
Glen Logan - 4*
Joe Evans - 3*
Andre Anthony - 4*

That's eight 4 and 5 star players in the starting 11 alone.

Arkansas has signed eight 4* defensive recruits in 4 YEARS! Kentucky has signed only 10 in that same time frame.

Both defenses are playing infinitely better defense than LSU right now. It's coaching. Plain and simple.

LSU doesn’t have a safety that can call the defense to get everyone on the same page

It's a both problem. We have a roster that isn't built for a 4-3. And we aren't even certain a 4-3 can stop modern day offenses.

That's on both of them.
