If one player was messing up constantly or we were just losing 1-on-1 battles all the time then maybe you have a point but when its the whole defense that looks lost, thats on the DC.

A good analogy that T-Bob made is that when the whole class is failing, then the teacher did a poor job of teaching the material.

Yes we are.

Clemson has been one of the best defenses for the last 6 years.

Blaming the DL alignment for our DBs not know what the frick is going on in the secondary doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Really the problem is Nick Saban. Had he never gone to the Dolphins in the first place...

Florida, Auburn, Michigan, and OSU also run the 4-3 and have had successful defenses.

You're a "let's circle back" guy and this is a wonderful circle back to the root of the whole problem.

It's hard to be "wrong" with opinions, but you are 100% wrong here. There is no doubt it is a coaching problem. We have played 3 teams in which we undoubtedly possess the talent advantage. It's not like we got torched by Bama or Florida. We got torched by 2 of the 3 worst SEC teams that are a combined 0-5 outside of playing us.

On defense we have guys like Ali Gaye, Jacoby Stevens, Derek Stingley, Jabril Cox. All of these guys are NFL picks, and there will be more than that. It might not be one of the most talented defense by LSU standards, but it's ample talent to not give up historic offensive outputs to MSU and Mizzou.

So it seems everyone has a different opinion. With all the defensive coaches, including O, putting their minds together and simplifying things to make sure everyone is on the same page we should see a drastic improvement on defense the rest of the season correct? I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see it

I thought Jacoby Stevens was that guy

No, IT IS Bo's problem. He changed up the entire defensive scheme from last year.

The change of scheme isnt the issue, its that he tried to do to much to quickly.

If you remember back to 2016 (Aranda's first year), DA said that he had something ridiculous like 4 defensive calls that we ran all year cuz he couldn't install the exotic stuff until the base stuff was perfected and cuz our defensive personnel was so studly that he just needed to call a defense and get out of their way.

We have 3-4 guys playing consistently in the secondary that haven’t played to a high standard yet. And up front the recruiting has been lacking for years. But coaching has gotta get better to fix the problems.

How many of LSU starters on defense can start at an Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Clemson?
this is really bad logic.

But in response to your argument - just because a player wouldn't start at a premier school doesn't mean they still aren't good enough to beat the likes of Miss State and Missouri.

We have plenty of talent in the secondary which seems to be the weakest link at this point.

I just think the guy hasn't known how to coach defense in a long time. Whatever he's trying to get across to the team isn't working. What you know as a coach is irrelevant if your players don't know it. His Nebraska defenses had record setting awful performances and now we are seeing that here.

Simplifying the defense may limit the big plays and work in the short term but once tape is out there of this simple defense then team's will start exploiting it.
