You don't learn on the job at LSU. You perfect your craft while here. Sloan isn't ready to be in control of an offense at a top SEC school.

The reason BK told Sloan to be careful and not to get too fancy with the offense. Fact is BK will let Sloan get more creative when needed.

CBK thinking....10 first downs should do it! Rushing under 100 yards with half of those yards coming on end of game run with their defense selling out should be fine! SEE, I play to win!

Right. It's sick

I figured out Brian Kelly's coaching style finally. It's to give the other team the most chances possible to win the game.

He was definitely slowing down the offense against Florida. The one drive we ran with some decent tempo was successful. The rest of the time it was out of synch and felt like someone left the parking brake on.

Sounds like he was insecure about how he managed the offense in the press conference

umm you understand that BK is an expert on offense and essentially every coordinator has pretty much run his offense....right? at least as far back as Cincy it has been like this.

every OC has had tweaks they did but its always been BK offense and he even talked about that when hiring Denbrock and Sloan that they know how to run his offense.

he normally doesnt call the plays but last year he had a playsheet and was helping with that

and I know this is a foreign concept to you since your Daddy O only knew Dline and had never been a coordinator.

Why on earth are they “tapping” the breaks Brian?

You got to be aggressive and try to score enough points to at least take some pressure off of the defense. Relying strictly on the defense to win every game is not going to work. They are going to get worn down at some point. This is the dumbest mentality I’ve ever heard a coach say. So much for stepping on anybody’s throat and blowing them out. Y’all might as well forget that with this coaching philosophy.

except coaches win championships in both college and nfl doing this exact same thing

but hey Chad from pineville with his HS diploma making 56k a year knows better.

What do you think he’s going to say? He’s covering for his guy. Nope. We’ve seen what this Offense is capable of or better yet not capable of and we’re going to be in trouble come Week 5.

Good to know his expertise has us at the bottom of the SEC in offense.

I wonder if this includes running the ball on every second down no matter the field position or distance left to gain

where did it rank the other years? Can you please remove O's cock from your mouth for two seconds and look? Pretty sure its been pretty damn good since he got here so if he says we need to dial it back...maybe we should trust him

i mean you supported O when he has us down to below 40 scholarship players....is it too much to ask to trust the guy who has given us some of our best offenses of all time?

The skill position group is essentially the same as last season, so its hard to imagine the capability isnt there. Perhaps between the nicked up QB, new Oline (and their injury woes), and the weight of having Clemson and Florida in the first three weeks, they opted to keep things simple and not incur too much risk.

at some point, not being able to convert a 3 and 2 is going to cause problems…

He also mentioned how Sloan is trying to be too perfect in getting the right play called… sounds like a young OC still learning a bit on the job.
I heard this differently - it sounded to me like he was saying Nussmeier is trying to be too perfect getting us into the right play when checking at the line. I guess Sloan is apart of that process in grooming his pre-snap mindset, but I think Kelly mainly wants to help get Nuss to have less thoughts going through his head before the snap.

I took what he said as more to do with the OL not progressing enough to this point over just Nuss being injured.

Oh yeah, virtue signalling. Congrats on making manager.

Correct. He clearly knows what it’s like to literally have the best offense in the country & lose multiple games. He is finally managing games. May not be pretty, but he’s 3-0.

People also act like Clemson & Florida have abysmal defenses when their DL are actually good.

Damn if this isn’t spot on….. Was screaming at the TV on two of his 3rd down blunders. 2 yards from the stick and he tries to run East / West to bounce it outside. Just get the 1st down bro. That’s the only reason they got the ball to you where they did. It’s right in front of you.
