Would be hilarious if he started Walker Howard at QB and still preserved his redshirt for the year.

Obviously he wouldn’t do this if Walker wasn’t ready, but he might know something we don’t.

JD5 starting certainly won’t surprise FSU, and I’m sure they’re preparing for both him and Nuss. So what is the tactical advantage?

I just hope he doesn’t reveal the secret playbook until Bama

The advantage is you have to prepare for both instead of just one. Pretty simple concept.

Sure, but if Walker is ready it would be a major blow to FSU when they’d have no way to game plan for him. You can still preserve his redshirt like Jamie wants if you start him in this game.

Twist ending, he starts Brennan who came back right after they stopped allowing media in.

Would suspect there’s more zone read or straight up QB draw mixed in with JD but I’m guessing.

I think the real reason is what he admitted today, he’s a little sour about them having a tune up game and he wants to play a bit of gamesmanship through the media. I don’t blame him for it. I think had FSU not just played, then he would have announced a starter.

LSU shouldn't have to "surprise" FSU. They're the underdog and have far less talent. A well-prepared LSU team with minimal first game mistakes, which I fully expect from a Kelly-coached team, should easily overmatch FSU with no trickery needed.

Then why did BK say it was a tactical advantage to not name a starting QB?

Because if BK named Nuss, FSU doesn't have to review JD film from ASU and run a WR at scout QB. They would just review Nuss appearances from last year and play straight up on scout.

I believe BK is actually trying to sniff out all the bleeding vagina’s on the Rant. It seems to be working.

If BK cares one bit about the rant, then he’s very foolish

I know this is the rant where brilliant battle plans are birthed, but sometimes it's ok to just line up and beat a lesser opponent.

Yea, but LSU has to prepare for a 2 point conversion now;-).

What Brian Kelly said has nothing to do with the point he was trying to make.

If Daniels starts you’ll have to spy him with a LB or S to protect against him taking off.

If Nuss starts you don’t have to spy him and assign the spy a coverage.

It seems simple but the changing of one assignment can alter the responsibilities of many on the defense. Having to prepare for both situations prevents them from perfecting either.

Yep. Daniels can only throw and run to the right and Nuss to the left. Not knowing, makes them have to double prepare.

This is the kind of arrogance that gets some teams beaten. Just a few, because not too many are so foolish as to think they don’t need to fool their opponent.

It might be a small advantage but given the close competition, FSU was always going to prepare for both QBs as I think they’ll both play.
