I was vehemently against O, and I woildnt Hate Napier

Pretending O’s record pre 2016 is comparable to Napier’s is insane

Napier has a winning record as a HC. He’s been an OC multiple times. he isn’t from here.

I read articles this past summer about how organized and hard working he is. There is a lot of similarities to Nick Saban and the way they both run their programs. Scott Woodward should definitely interview Billy Napier!

It’s only high because he’s a G5 coach who hasn’t been a head coach anywheee else. The moment he goes to an actual football program like every other G5 coach that either fails or is mediocre, his “ceiling” will shrink

Fickell is an Ohio Boy, doesn't know Louisiana or the South. Would be a big social learning curve there.

I'll never understand this talking point.

Saban grew up in West Virginia, went to college in Ohio, and primarily coached in the Midwest before coming to LSU.

the people down here who actually care about where a guy is from generally are the ones who need to adjust to the social learning curve

I’d be fine with Napier, but let’s be honest and admit that if he was at Bowling Green or UTSA, you wouldn’t even be talking about him.

I don’t know how many times it has to be said. Napier will not be the coach.

I don’t know how your description leads to him having the highest ceiling.
I don’t really know enough about ULL to comment on his coaching, but I will say the program isn’t in a good position to take a chance on a guy, it will be really tough rebuilding the program in 3 years if he fails and Texas and Oklahoma are just joining the conference. This next hire is huge!

You have no legitimate talking points against this guy except for he hasn’t done it a P5 program.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?

And simply did not do a good job. His Clemson team was 6-7. His Colorado State team was 4-8. Dabo fired him, then went 10-3, and was named Coach of the Year.

I personally think he could be Urban Meyer 2.0 but without all the BS. Urban had been a HC for 4 years at BG and Utah, two G5 schools, when he was hired at Florida. A school that was just a few years removed from dominating the SEC for the entire 90s. You hire the best coach, not the coach with the best resume. Period. The only coach we can realistically get that I’d be happy with over Napier is Riley and still not certain which one would fare better in the SEC. Riley is great and done it at a P5 school but look at his bowl/playoff record and more importantly how’s he performed against SEC competition. It’s been pretty bad plus he can’t seem to get his defense right. Great offensive coach and recruiter but we have no evidence he would be any more successful than Napier in the SEC full time.
