It's Ponamsky's alters, and PR crew that are reeling them in. Ponamsky so wants to see LSU fail after Ed is gone, just so that he can say "I told you so". And he thinks Napier is that guy.
Out of all the other Top candidates, Peterson, Riley, Jimbo, Venables, Fickell, Stoops, Kiffin, Freeze, Briles, Cristobal, etc. no one runs to a message board day after day and says a G5 coach that's never won a conference should be our #1 guy.

Peterson - Your first example suggests pulling a guy out of retirement who also happens to be one of the best examples out there of a coach having success going directly from G5 -> P5. I should stop here.

Napier is 1-4 against ranked teams at ULL
Fickell is 5-6 against ranked teams at Cincy
ULL level of competition isn't there - I'd much rather seem him against more ranked teams

This is getting very Orgeron-esque. I don't see what makes any better than any other candidate. The only thing I see is that he's worse than other candidates with a long career of failed coordinating and position coach experience.
Saban never thought Napier was good enough to promote. He was at Bama for 5-6 seasons and never rose above position coach.

Urban was also successful at bowling green proving he can win at multiple stops we can't say the same about Napier.

so you they want peterson because of what he did at boise, a g5? or was it only having one season with less than 4 losses at Udub that does it for them?
Kiffen- same kiffen that failed at USC, lost a shite ton at UT, and never lost less than 3 games in G5 and also had a losing season? Cause it isnt the ole miss record people are pointing too. Napier's g5 resume is much much better than Kiffen. Im not saying he isnt a candidate though and I dont like him. But if you like Kiffen for what he did at FAU, then you have to like Napier and Chaldwell from coastal

Briles/Venalbles- no HC expierence at all and briles is untouchable
Fickel - legit
Freeze - legit- but the off the field problems are an issue for a school under Title IX
Franklin- legit, but the vandy rape incident is a big deal, just like for Freeze.

the take of Billy Napier has to be the pick is just as fricking dumb as the take that he cant be the pick because he is one of us or coaches at ULL. He is not one of us so quit with that shite.
Billy prolly does have highest ceiling but him and chadwell from coastal also are the biggest risk.
my list(being fricking realistic)-
1) Riley- obviously, but he isnt leaving
2) freeze- i think he is a no go due to off the field
3) fickel- i think he takes it after cincy misses playoff
4) Cristobal- think he passes
5) Franklin- i think he goes to USC or stays at PSU his dream job
6) Napier- explained above
7) Fleck
8) Kiffen- great offense, but less upside imo plus off the field issues
9) Campbell
10) Chaldwell from coastal- great offense but not great recruiter
doesnt get past that of course. Urban of course is number 1 but i think he is untouchable
and stop with the billy=urban bullshite. Urban was running a system unheard of before and it was unique, Billy isnt and I love Billy as a candidate.
