Bianco to play some at catcher

CPM said with Garza unable to catch till mid-season that he will use Bianco as a backup to Mathis. I guess he feels Doughty not capable.

I think CPM feels that Bianco is a better catcher than Doughty. Willis also is a catcher but he has been unable to throw so far.

Garza will still be able to hit. If I recall Mainieri said he was a candidate for the DH spot to start the season.

Why would a walk on with the opportunity to play college ball with his brother transfer out just before that opportunity because of playing time?

What's Garza's injury?

recovering from surgery on a torn meniscus. Apparently the injury goes back to his JUCO days. He'll still be able to bat, but won't be able to squat to catch.

I remember coach saying he was sending Bianco home over the break with the intention of working on his catching.

Yeah, just leave it up to the player to get coaching from some yokel like his dad. What does this kids dad know about baseball, and specifically catching, anyway?
