Anybody remember Jimmy Mora's reaction when Steve Gleason blocked that punt against his team? He was fighting back a big grin. Got fired after the season.

Bianco should have smiled for his son.
If it were me in that situation, I would be happy that my son hit a home run but as a father would would be furious that he dishonored himself, his team, and his family by flipping the bat and acting like an arse. I would be more mad than if one of my own players had done it, because he is my son. And the way he was staring him down is probably what I would have done, making sure when I finally caught his eye that he knew he messed up big time.
I am not saying that is what went down, but that is how it appeared from my perspective and how I raised my kids.
Also, as a fan and not a father, I thought it was awesome! It really upped the stakes in this series. I am really pumped for game 2 tonight.

Mike Bianco has been HC at Ole Miss for 19 seasons, the dean of SEC coaches. Every year OM is a team that is in contention for the SEC title. I'm pretty sure Mike Bianco cares about his team and program.
And I am pretty sure Mike was proud of his second son last night. IF he wasn't smiling when Drew went yard it was probably because his team was still in the game until Cabrera hit that homer just before Drew came to bat.

I remember Saints fans being upset that Archie wanted the colts to win the Super Bowl.

Hey, I said as a fan I loved it.
I know it is a double standard being harder on my kids and holding them to a higher standard than others, but that is the way I was raised and know it kept me from being even more of an arse than I already am. I admit it though and probably should lighten up some. ETA - Just saying, That is what Bianco's reaction appeared to me to me and unfortunately I can relate.

I am sure he did not teach his son to show up his opponent, and that is what ticked him off.

Wut.
Are you kidding.
Are you kidding.

If my kid hit a homerun against me, I would have to have at least a touch of a smile. Screw my bosses if they can’t understand blood comes before paycheck.

Is that what you did when you were on TV watching YOUR son?

He has no interest in coming back to LSU. He was offered the job when Smoke was fired. He turned it down to stay in Oxford. It is low pressure and the life style is nice.

You sound like a little league coach.
Are you a coach?
This is what most of us think of your opinion on his 'dishonor'.

quote:Totally disagree. He just hit a homer and did a bat flip, and you’re freaking out??? This team needs some swag. This team needs to show excitement. This team needs to be cocky. In this case, I think it was just a little excitement and I have ZERO issues with it.

The kid didn’t round 3rd and talk shite to the dugout or the pitcher. He flipped the bat after a home run. Big, big fricking difference.
