If that was the case, they wouldn’t have changed it the past 2 years. It’s already been decided
Missouri and Arkansas have been playing on Thanksgiving weekend since 2018 I believe.
They could easily change it to LSU/Arkansas and OU/Missouri. They can do whatever they want.

Honestly I would like LSU to play Arkansas, Ole Miss and Miss State. Ole Miss and Miss State have been our true SEC rivals from across our eastern border. LSU - Ole Miss games have always been exciting and very rarely one sided. The LSU game has always been Arkansas' super bowl. Again, it has always been an interesting game. Miss State - LSU rivalry has been sort of lopsided of late, but we have played every year from 1905 - 2023. That has been for more than 100 years.
Many people think that LSU should play Alabama, Florida and A&M. But please understand in the long run Florida and A&M will both have a significant financial advantage and therefore a better roster. Alabama has been our kryptonite.
Also LSU could end up playing Alabama, Florida, A&M, Texas and Georgia in the same year more than once.
Is that fair, considering Ole Miss could end up having Miss. State, Vandy and Arkansas as permanent opponents.

It’s much more likely to be LSU-OU and Arky-Mizzou.
LSU-OU will provide the most attractive matchup with the most TV viewers out of all the possible combinations with those 4 teams.
Remember that money and TV viewership drives these things.

Permanent opponent candidates with my predictions it actually happens
100% OM
90% A&M
70% Bama
—believe it’s those 3^
30% Arkansas
25% Florida
10% Oklahoma
5% State
—small likelihood it’s any of these^
Zero chance it’s any others
Yep. Only hope is Bama chickens out and leaves us with Arky instead.

A&M is definitely one of the three. Probably Ole Miss is another one. I would hope Florida is the third permanent rival, but that's seeming more unlikely each passing day.

We’re not getting Arky. That’s wishful thinking.
LSU-OU would be a much more attractive game for TV viewership as the regular season finale.

For some strange reason our fanbase wants to play a program that beats us 70% of the time

Based on series histories, both MS schools should be permanent opponents, but they won’t give us MSU.
They will give Bama a permanent Vandy. Book it.

Really hoping for:
OM
Arky
AU/UF
OM is the closest rival to LSU I suppose; Arky games were always a wild ride when I was growing up (please put it back on black Fridays), and AU was always the premier, hard hitting, no love-lost game while I was at LSU (Florida is a long standing close second).
Bama is going to want AU and Tennessee before LSU, and ATM just doesn't light a fire for me. Let them have UT and OU.

I don't disagree. I am simply saying the last two years were standalone years, which the SEC said themselves. They can do whatever they want to do with the schedule moving forward.
I do think it makes some sense to pair LSU with OU, and then try to find a traditional Big Six team for Texas to face annually. They could pair Texas and Florida, but that would mean a very tough schedule for Florida every year unless they were to drop the annual Tennessee game. Just a lot of balls to juggle when it comes to the schedule.

It’s pretty obvious that we won’t have Bama
They will 100% have AU and Tennessee. The SEC won’t give them LSU as well. And they probably shouldn’t.

And people saying Bama won’t get Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU are forgetting that if we are paired with Florida that means they likely play Georgia, Tennessee, and LSU.
That’s why we aren’t getting Florida.

Does UGA get Florida, Tennessee, & Auburn?
No reason Bama cant get Tennessee, LSU, & Auburn

Probably Ole Miss, Florida, and A&M
I know we keep saying Bama because it’s been a great TV match up, but I think now that Saban is out of the game the LSU-Bama will lose its national appeal over the next couple years. I’m sure they are thinking about a plan that will work for the next 20 years, not just the next 5.

No. Georgia will get AU and Florida probably not Tennessee
Tennessee will get Bama and Florida but probably not Georgia.
Florida is a little tricky, sort of like LSU. They will get GA for sure. After that hard to say. It may be LSU or they could just pair them with OU.
I think we get Ole Miss, aTm and Arkansas

I believe one will have to be OU or Arkansas unless you are playing OOC for Thanksgiving..

Tennessee would get Georgia, Florida, and Bama. Auburn gets at least Bama and Georgia. Florida could get at least Tennessee and Georgia, etc.
I would guess they might drop the UGA/Tennessee game? If not, all of the Big Six schools are going to have very tough annual schedule. And that's just the way it's been for years now.
