Best thing for him is to take off 3 games and not hit… clear his head and relax.

Obviously we don’t have time… move him to six hole and let him see more fastballs.

Yes it does. Now, Curiel is hot at the moment, but any time you're walking anyone to get to the next guy, that's not a good sign for that next guy. If we had Luis Hernandez hitting in front of Jones with runners in scoring position, I would think hard about walking him to get to Jones if I were the opposing coach. Until he proves that he's not an automatic out, you have to treat him like he is. And that goes for our coach, too. Treat him like a guy who's struggling, and quit putting him in a spot in the order where he's killing rallies. He was great as a freshman, until he wasn't, and then he was out of the lineup, and stayed out, because he was beat out. Now, we can't even move him down in the order?

Expecting some negative responses to this, but here goes.
'm a retired HS coach with 40 yrs. of experience in coaching hitting. That said, Jones has a "load" problem... He's late! and it doesn't take being much late to have the results he's having.
He seems defeated- his confidence is shot.
If he gets back to basics and just try to be on time and hit the ball squarely, things will get better. Otherwise, expect more of the same.

You'll get no negative response from me. It's clear to see he's late on every fastball. But then, somehow he's still out front of the off speed. You can tell he's not thinking along with the pitchers and what they're doing to him, along with what you pointed out. He's guessing, and not guessing right.

Can we get a Kentucky pitcher to get down there and throw Bp to him today? Seemed to get him going before……

No he doesn't because he gets a first pitch fastball right down the middle quite often. He always takes the first pitch. He sees absolutely nothing pitch wise. They throw a fastball quite often down the middle first pitch, then throw off speed past it so he'll swing at all the trash. It's time and time again. Don't know how many times we have to see it. Like he needs surgery on his eyes or something he looks bad right now Braswell bad.

I wouldn't bench him yet, but at the very least he needs to be moved down in the order and potentially pinch hit for if the situation calls for it.

Reminds me of Thompson on the 23 team. Dude has so much talent but I’d buried in his head. JT was slumping bad until the CWS and he went off. All it’s going to take a a hit or two and he gain confidence back

Little rock is a small team and he's not even hitting on them. He needs to be moved down the lineup for sure. Him hitting sub .100 in this regional is terrible and would cost us if we make the Super and onto Omaha. The pitching just gets better at every stage moving forward.

I agree with this.

His back bend seems more pronounced and he seems late on just about everything…even sliders.

I imagine this has forced him to start guessing more and the results have been catastrophic.

And on top of that, the pitcher is laughing! I don't know what the issue is with Bear, but he is lost right now with strike outs and soft pop ups, something is wrong. At the very least, he needs to be lower in the line-up, but except the fact he is a very good 1st baseman, he should be on the bench...

You have to do something to jar him mentally/emotionally. Put him down in the order like 9th. Then in his 2nd at bat , replace him with someone else. Piss him off. If there is a next game bench him, then let him pinch hit once. Season is too late though tbh. Tbh, wish he'd leave this yr. Wish Auggie could come down for one lockeroom visit to the Tigers.

It was a brilliant move. Not just that they assessed the situation, but you know the decision only caused Bear to think about it even more and spiral deeper into the pit.
