that would be a much easier feat. However, Les will never finish in the top 2, probably not the top 4.

No, I don't see O leading LSU to the playoffs. He will never have a big advantage in talent to overcome his coaching inabilities. O's bosses aren't concerned at all about LSU making the playoffs. LSU will make just as much money making a decent bowl game as long as bama is making the playoffs. This is the best LSU will do as long as Saban is at bama.

All you have to do is follow recruiting to know the answer is a definite "YES".

UF had EVERYTHING to do with the coaches.

No. This year represents his ceiling as a coach.

The "happenings" during the aTm game, followed by the narrative that the media presented will tell you all you need to know about what direction LSU is headed with him at coach.

Can you elaborate on what you mean here? Honestly missing your point and would like to know.

I can, he wasn't far off from doing it this year with a team picked to win 7 games.

A team with top 10 talent and one of the best D coordinators in the business was never going to win as little as 6-7 games

This is such bs

People lowered the standards because of the coaches

O has proven he isn’t gonna sink the ship. He will recruit well and field excellenr D with Aranda.

Now I do think he can be a 10-11 win coach with a different oc

Yes, of course.

Yes

He has already shown he can adapt. Innovating was a full motion offense Canada was running that did not prove successful. He position coached top tier programs at Miami, USC, and the NFL and understands how it is done. As opposed to Miles, O will make personnel changes to keep his own job. This is not a "loyalty" issue, its doing the proper job and making the necessary changes.

I think your perspective is the perspective of a large percentage of our fanbase, and it’s why you cannot be objective when judging him.

You just can’t “see” him doing well, so there’s this confirmation bias about what is actually happening. He’s a shrimp boat captain, so there’s no way he can be a good coach. I had the same impression of Dabo, who I thought was an Alabama yokel who would never make it. Boy, was I wrong.

To many fans, this season was a failure. To others, he did a good job with what he had and they don’t knock him for the A&M game.

Somehow we as fans have to find a way to view things objectively, because a revolving door of coaches, OC’s, etc is no path to success. If it were Tennessee would be a playoff contender every year.

Yes. You don't have to be a coordinator to be a successful head coach

We will be in the playoffs in the next two years. It's not about the X's and O's. It's about the Jimmys and Joes.

As long as he keeps recruiting at a high level he absolutely can get to and win the playoffs. Anyone that thinks differently is allowing petty bias to cloud their judgment.

There's no excuse for the hatred directed at the man.

I’ll wait to see what occurs in the next offseason. Regardless of what all the anti-O people say, he made several great decisions on addressing issues last offseason that got us to where we are now, and not 6-6 as predicted. That includes firing Canada, who was a cancer on that team. Sure he didn’t hire another flashy name, and went with a trusted buddy, but he was looking for stability. And for the 2018 season, I think he righted a sinking ship and looks to be heading in a positive direction. If he closes out his class in the top 5 and then addresses his staff issues correctly this season, then why not? Before we bash him, let’s make sure he deserves it. If he makes zero staff changes, then complain, but let’s see what happens first??

Oh Jesus. There is a significant amount of history on which to base O's abilities, so he is a different animal from Dabo entirely. Now, that's no guarantee obviously, but you can't completely discount it.

I don't think he will but I think he can. I mean this year we could have if we won 2 winnable games against UF and A&M and didnt get butt raped by Bama. If the OL would have stayed in tact from the beginning of the season it could have happened, however unlikely. Though it does seem like this team is less talented than it was under almost all of the miles era so I really doubt it will happen with this coach.
