He's lost at least one game he shouldn't every year he's been in charge. Why would any rational person expect that to change?

Yes. He almost did it this year with the team that wasn't as talented as some of the other contenders. if we improve our roster and he improves his coaching and the coaches around him then yes

These are MASSIVE "ifs" that you pretty effortlessly gloss over.

I've seen improvement from the Miles era.
Is it enough to compete for a national title, no!
They are still way behind Bama in talent at critical positions.

This is being addressed in the trenches, but save this year at RB, don't act like LSU hasn't stacked up with Bama well at the WR and Back positions.

O's biggest problem, as was Miles's, is his offense. There is simply no bigger issue hindering us from competing.

A team with top 10 talent and one of the best D coordinators in the business was never going to win as little as 6-7 games

This is such bs

Agreed. I was one of the most vocally negative about O before the season, and I predicted 8-4, which I viewed as being a pretty bad season. O has bested that prediction by one game, and some are wanting to crown him for a significant performance.

Well maybe he will learn not to trust his D to get a late game stop no matter how good the d coordinator is. That would have saved us Ls v ND and Aggie. If he learns this and uses it going forward that’s an extra win each year that he has gained for us.

It depends. If he's willing to coach without fear. That means:

-Don't hire comfortable coaches (friends, safe hires)
-Be willing to take risks on the field; if he wants a safe gameplan his coaches will gameplan "not to lose"
-Stand up to Alleva and F King; we need to match Bama and other SEC teams on student stipends, fill our support staff with the top talent available and if he wants top OCs that may be a little questionable he has to lobby for them

He has to treat this next season like there is no tomorrow because there isn't. If he plays it safe he's gone because the fans and boosters are going to turn on him and the program. He needs to let Alleva know that if he goes down he's taking him and F King with him.

The offense did jack shite in the ND game, and the defense scored points last Saturday. Stick to trolling the MSB.

How many folks believed that Saban had "it" after his second year?
Heck there were many who didn't believe Saban had "it" when he left LSU. Their proof was the Bowl loss to Iowa.

Oh Jesus. There is a significant amount of history on which to base O's abilities, so he is a different animal from Dabo entirely. Now, that's no guarantee obviously, but you can't completely discount it.

Dabo had no experience beyond a position coach. You would prefer zero experience?

I mean, judge Coach O on a decade ago at a perennial bottom feeder (where he significantly improved the roster), or judge him on his most recent work.

But don’t judge him based on how you “see” him.

He’s in his 2nd year. I say we let it play out.

they didn’t get the stop when they needed to. Allowed opposition to drive the length of the field. Inexcusable. Hopefully this encourages Ed to be more aggressive on Offense in these situations. But you can’t blame him for relying on the highest paid coordinator In the land to get a stop can you.

Do u realize how close he came this year? He may fail miserably going forward but give the man a break and let him give you some facts to work with....

His most recent work gets factored into the equation obviously. Based on his overall resume, I cannot see him leading LSU to the playoffs. Not sure why that's so controversial.

Yes, of course.

I dont see how you can make this statement.

He promised change and threw lipstick on what Miles had offensively.

I cannot see him hiring a brilliant offensive mind and changing this offensive scheme to win a playoff game.

I cant see him hiring an OC and letting him schematically draw up a plan that will attack an opposing teams defensive weakness.

You've got an inflated idea of how much talent is on this team and ready to play.

I can totally see this team being capable of 11-1 next season and in the playoffs.

I won’t expect it but it wouldn’t surprise me. This team probably should’ve finished 11-1 now that we can look back.
