The lure of coming home to LA seems a little lost on them. Only people from here truly get it. Nothing like it.

Of all the people pissing in this parade why would you? I would’ve thought you’d be all about this hire

True

I’m all for LSU having the best coaches in every sport. People will get behind her in a big way. She will be a rock star here. I think all the gnashing of teeth some are doing over the salary is just short sighted.

The other dynamic that’s made me chuckle is the arrogance of so many, including several of our own “fans” who have swore that there is absolutely no way this would happen. They shat upon LSU in every post and mocked our financial capabilities as if they have any clue how much private money exists.

People wanted to throw shade at Woodward....now he’s serving a nice cold glass of shut the hell up.

It’s all so glorious.

Comparing the athletic programs of Baylor and LSU is like comparing a nice used Honda Accord to a brand new 2021 BMW M3. The Accord is a fine car, but simply not in the same class as the M3. There are a lot of butthurt fans of other SEC teams and Baylor in here downvoting logic and facts.

I don’t ever get the idiocy of this statement from fans and I’ve seen it numerous times from theirs on Twitter.

Just b/c LSU wasn’t paying Caldwell more than $700k doesn’t mean they couldn’t pay more.

She wasn’t even worth the $700k being paid. Why the hell would LSU pay her more? It’s just funny how logic completely flies out the window with these things.

Plus basketball ops will be upgraded which is what Wade wants

Yep. I’m extremely hopeful LSU can get Mulkey because I really like her as a coach and want to see the WBB program successful again.

But the huge side benefit is that now Wade can kick back and reap the benefits of her success, star power, and forcefulness to get things done.

Wade was/is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He was promised things and for the most part has delivered on his end and deserves more than he is getting. But he obviously knows he created a situation where he doesn’t have the leverage to push for things. Well, now he can team up with Mulkey and just ride her coattails to getting what he wants too.

It isn’t obvious? He doesn’t want someone else on campus pulling attention away from Orgeron. Look at how he reacted to when Wade got here and was getting all the attention.

This: Baylor fans need to understand they are not LSU.

You are absolutely right. They are BETTER than LSU has EVER been in basketball: both Men's and Women's. They have WON national championships! LSU has ZERO in both Men's and Women's basketball. This would be a TREMENDOUS hire for LSU. Kim Mulkey is STILL considered to this day as one of the very best women's basketball players EVER! Her coaching is on par with the best of the best as well. Let it happen. Would be AWESOME for our Lady Tigers program. I might even go to a game.....

They have better mens and womens programs. And this comes after a total destruction of their mens program.

Do you even think? So paying a Kim Mulkey type coach 2.6M is a net addition of 1.9M when you subtract the 700k Fargas makes now. We had 0.0 chance to make even make a Sweet 16 much less a final four under Fargas. So why wouldn't LSU pony up the 1.9M and likely move to a 40-50% chance of WINNING the NCAA within 3 years? I bet just getting to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 + ticket and merchandise sales pretty much will cover that 1.9M.

It's clear Woodward wants a top tier athletic program. You only get that by getting coaches like Mulkey in every sport. When Woodward hires the next Baseball coach very soon we'll see his grand plan really take shape. Don't be surprised if that salary isn't in the 2.5 Million range.

Lol. And with some of the type attention O has been getting lately, you’d think he’d be thrilled to have Kim come in here, be a rock star, and take some of the spotlight off O.

Yep. Lots of fans don’t know how this stuff works.

This was one booster that put up the cash to bring her here. Money talks.

Be grateful and say thank you.

We have been there. I remember the stress crap with Saban thinking about the dolphins offer or flirting with nfl teams it seemed every offseason.
I take no joy in a fan base stress only if it’s bama.

Most LSU fans don’t give a damn about Women’s Basketball and they won’t even if Kim Mulkey comes to Baton Rouge. I will say this, if LSU in their Woke state they are in hires Mulkey snd overpays her to the tune of 2.5 to 3 million there will be problems with the coaches and staff of every other sport. LSU just a year ago laid off some support personnel, froze salaries, did away with bonuses, etc. If they now bring in a woman to coach a program which LOSES 4 MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR then you will rightfully have some pissed off coaches. If they pay a woman to run a money losing program more than they pay Will Wade then all sense and logic has left the LSU Athletic Department.

ok, so do we pay the swim coach $3M? Softball coach gets $3M too? Volleyball? Golf? Tennis?

You see the issue, right? Where do you draw the line? That's really all this is about.

Hell, if we want to win at all sports, why don't we just pay $10M to every head coach in every sport, and pay $2M to assistant coaches, to ensure we get the best.

We won't do that?

Why?

This. The Athletic Department can hire whomever they want at whatever figure as long as there are boosters that are fine paying a majority of the salary.

“When is the last time LSU, the athletic colossus, has won a national championship in men's or women's basketball?”

Good point.
