Manning scored most of his points off the dribble in the mid range. He did start to get better at the catch and shoot later in his first season at LSU. He wasn’t a facilitator but he did create most of his offense off the dribble.

Manning barely played bro. 41% of the games the last two seasons.

He played in 10 SEC games.

Granted, he is more relevant than James Bishop at James Madison

That’s moving the goal post. You said Wade doesn’t get enough 1 on 1 guys, that’s not true, we get plenty. Just because player X doesn’t get as many shots or opportunities doesn’t mean we’re out there with 1 guy dribbling the ball and everyone standing around waiting to catch and shoot. The reason our offense is so good is because we have the multiple threats to take players off the bounce as well as put it up. Like the late great Kobe Bryant said “stats tell you what happened, they don’t tell you why it happened.”

. LSU definitely hustled all game and was active, but they allowed wayyy too much penetration, especially along the baseline, which led to either easy shots in the lane, fouls, or kick outs to a deadly shooter for Nicholls.

This has been the problem under WW since day one and I'm a big WW guy - all in. But until he gets this fixed we ain't getting where we all want.

Offensive efficiency noted, but there comes a time.

Again moving the goalpost. You can argue that Wade doesn’t use enough of them, I think we were -37 over the last 6 games in the final 4 minutes of halves due mostly to fatigue, but the players are there.

At least you have a new line to tell people when you can’t refute their point. Calling them liars was getting old

Your point has been disproven and now you’re blaming me for your sad attempt at goal post moving. Pathetic

19ppg and 5 assist per game and you’re arguing the guy can’t play lol. Btw what was Quinearly’s stat line at Nova before he transferred to Alabama? You’ll never grow up enough to admit when you’re wrong.

WORD OF WARNING: For those fans that hate Wade’s teams “talking”, especially like they did last year, then you aren’t going to like this team. They got under Nicholls skin several times and created some heated moments. There was a double tech late in the game on both teams. Eason was one of the biggest talkers.

I absolutely love this. We're building the brand of ball we want to play and I'm all board with this

Good stuff. Yeah, i wont he taking much from this with so many guys out. The things that sticks out to me is
Sounds like we got a steal with Eason
Gaines improvement is probably limited
Fudge has potential

Lester Earl negative as usual concerning LSU basketball. I was at the game. Eason and Reid will give teams fits on the block and will absolutely help Days to shine. Those three will give other teams hell down low.

Brandon is going to be special from the SG position. Nicholls had their best defender on him all night long. Mwani going to give us what we know he will give us.

Can't wait to see Pinson in this offense. He's going to have a similar year to Tremont's freshman year.

Once everyone gets healthy our starting line-up should look like this.

PG Pinson
SG Mwani and Brandon will rotate at this positon.
SF Days
PF Eason
Center Reid

Murray is going to surprise people.

I do think this team is going to miss adam miller but i think the defense will be much better than years past.

Good write up!!

It is an exhibition game, so everything about it should be taken with a grain of salt. Particularly in light of the fact LSU played the game without their (expected) top three scorers. However, the box score does provide a bit of LIMITED insight

1. NSU shot 36% overall (22% from 3). LSU will take that anytime.

2. LSU's def. rebounding % was ~85%. That's great. LSU was HORRIBLE in that category last season (326 in the nation at 67%). While I don't completely buy into it, Wade has mentioned on multiple occasions that LSU's "first shot defense" is generally pretty good. The problem is that they can't keep opponents off the offensive glass, leading to second, third, forth shots, and wasting any efforts to force and initial miss. If you want to look at stats this season THIS stat is one to watch. LSU hasn't been a good defensive rebounding team under Wade (even the 18-19 team was bad). If you are already shaky on defense, giving up 2nd and 3rd shots are devastating.

3. The 8 turnovers by Gaines are not good. Particularly in light of the fact he will not play a much bigger role. That said, don't panic just yet. Two years ago LSU played an exhibition game vs. Tech. Smart turned the ball over at will. In fact, the first few games of the season he was a turnover machine. By the end of the season he was among the leaders in SEC play in Asst/TO ratio. Wade will use the film from this game to work on issues. No reason to overreact one way or the other from an exhibition game vs. an overmatched team.
