Two out of the 3 probably start this year but all three aren’t playing last year. Costello imo is the main one who probably gets serious playing time this year.

There is one very consistent thing about NCAA championship baseball teams, and that is they have 2 to 3 absolute studs that signed out of high school that should’ve/could’ve gone pro.

We have Curiel this year, and maybe to a lesser extent, Milam, but outside of those two, no one else.

The problem is an obvious lack of offensive talent

Yeah, and you also can't make the Ryan Costello's of the world stick around. If they're not promised PT (see Brady Neal, Paxton Kling) they leave.

Add Ashton Larson.

That's why it's so tricky in this era. Even if you recruit a bumper crop of freshman, most of those who don't see a path to regular play bolt after 1-2 years.

Saying Milazzo wasn’t “elite” is quite inaccurate term.
Did you not watch CWS in 2023?

Braun needs to be on the bench. After that bad play in left field last night that's where is arse needs to be. Putting him at first is worse than the outfield. JJ has him in for his offense and it blew up in his face. You have to sure up your defense especially when hitting is non-existent

He definitely was no Jared Foster out there in Left.

Agree that the defense needs to improve. There really is no excuse for how bad we have been in the field. Was mentioned earlier, but we are losing 1/3 runs a game because our defense.

It really sticks out when you are not hitting.

Arambide better get his shite square or his arse will be on the bench. His swing is too long.

Arambide is lazy behind the plate. Too many catchable balls just pop out of his mitt and he backhands instead of shifting over and letting his body block the ball. A pitcher can’t trust him to block the ball on a waste pitch.

No idea why it wasn't Braun at DH and Harden in LF...

CJJ has had all fall and spring to evaluate Braun in the outfield. Not sure he needed to see anything new last night.

Agree on all points but Arrambide and Simpson. Arrambide is producing enough on offense currently to stay in the lineup (DH) if you prefer Serna to catch. Just play Ruckert at second. I would prefer better defense and his at bats have been decent this season. Dardar/Simpson/Carraway have been a massive disappointment.

I think this part gets better as they get more comfortable but honestly I don’t think these transfers understand the expectations of LSU baseball.

Yea none of these guys understood. Some of ya'll are reaching for anything to complain about and don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about. It's sad

Paul Skenes
Tommy White
Braswell
Dickinson
Hernandez
Eyanson
Stanfield
Jump
Ackenhausen
Riley Cooper
Holman

Second, leaning into the transfer portal versus recruiting the high end 4 year guys.

Every single championship team since the beginning of the portal era leans on portal players to fill holes. Wtf are you talking about ?

The list of portal guys we took that didn't work out is much shorter than the one you put together. (Though Ack was a JUCO guy, not a portal guy)

And we still had two portal pitchers that either barely threw here (Woods) or were flat out bad (Loer), still get drafted.

We need more Louisiana guys

I was thinking about that... With NIL, especially in football, many many really really good Louisiana players in whatever sport will never be able to live out their dream of playing for elllllssssuuu

With the $$$$'s ya'll will be throwing out there you will win some natty's in football but somehow I don't think it will be the same... Most of the guys you are signing are coming for the $$$'s... Not because they love ellllssssuuu.... Probably won't matter to you folks but this is now professional football (and other sports to a degreee)

Understand your points, but can't say that your explanation is a more accurate than the one used for 100 years. That's baseball fits here.

I am not with the group that thinks this is mind-boggling, but don't have an explanation, either. It is easy to get caught up with the" can't remember when ..." but baseball has always been more streaky than other sports. Good players don't just forget how to play, but run into bad streaks that leave us guessing.

I think we come out looking good against Vandy. And "that baseball" fits here, too.

Coach Jay Johnson is a winner. He'll straighten things out.

Take a deep breath TigerNation. Long season ahead. Is it normal for a BB coach to experiment with different team configurations towards the beginning of the season?

Yo - Geaux Tigahs!!
