Morgan was so damn good. Sometimes you don’t realize how good someone is until they leave. Very tough shoes to fill

Absolutely. We're coming off a national championship with the best defensive 1B in LSU history. Replacing him won't be easy.

his defense was shaky at times, i wanna see if he has improved.

Maybe I'm misremembering but I thought his defensive mistakes were very early in the season and he settled in pretty nicely as time went on

I didn’t think Jones was bad defensively at first last year. Especially considering he was a true freshman that was learning a new position. He was a catcher in high school.

Yall act like I don’t think he has any power. The top of these ratings are supposed to be generational talent. People here, even Lester, are saying there are 3 guys on this team at that level of power. Adam gives out 80s like Nicholas gives out blow jobs.

The offseason for any LSU sport is the greatest.

Because everyone is so excited about a new season, they automatically think every player is going to be the best case scenario when it comes to their talents, so if anyone brings up even the slightest bit of criticism/concern, they get destroyed on here.

Fast forward a month and a half where there is a decent possibility LSU opens up SEC play with a couple of series losses, and those same people that are drunk on the preseason possibilities will be railing how much this team sucks.

So you're saying someone is paying Adam to give out 80 grades?

What would you grade White’s power 20-80 on a collegiate scale right now?

I mean 14 HRs in 160 ABs is pretty good for a Freshman in the SEC. What's that like 22-23 HRs with a full season of ABs... If the kid isn't an 80 he's every bit of 75...but that's splitting hairs.

How many were vs SEC? You’re making me defend a 70 grade for him which is supposed to be really fricking good and well above average. 80 is laughable. Again, the max rating is supposed to be generational. There are at least 2 other guys as strong as him. Trav, White, and Frey all have equal or better numbers. Do you really think LSU has 4 max power guys on their roster?

There is a D2 tournament happening in Minute Maid right now and they're providing Statcast feeds on baseballsavant.

Gives me hope that they'll do it for our games there.

ETA: Here is the game happening now for those not familiar with Baseball Savant: LINK

There is no collegiate scale. You invented it when you started getting called out for these ratings years ago.

It’s a made up fricking scale dude. I can say he’s a 100 and it doesn’t mean anything because you decided to scale it however the frick you wanted. On a pro scale, White is a 55-60. He has good oppo power but rolls over too much when he pulls it.

From BA:

For the Handbook, consider this BA’s 20-80 scale:
20: As bad as it gets for a big leaguer. Think Myles Straw’s power or Daniel Vogelbach’s speed.

30: Poor, but not unplayable, such as Kyle Hendricks’ fastball.

40: Below-average, such as Rafael Devers’ defense or Dylan Cease’s control.

45: Fringe-average. Matt Chapman’s hitting ability and Mike Zunino’s arm qualify.

50: Major league average. Jeff McNeil’s speed.

55: Above-average. Randy Arozarena’s power.

60: Plus. Marcus Semien’s defense or Zac Gallen’s control.

70: Plus-Plus. Among the best tools in the game, such as Freddie Freeman’s hitting ability, Blake Snell’s curveball and Ronald Acuña Jr.’s arm.

80: Top of the scale. Some scouts consider only one player’s tool in all of the major leagues to be an 80. Think of Shohei Ohtani’s power, Corbin Carroll’s speed or Devin Williams’ changeup.

ETA: even if we apply this to only college players, an 80 is meant to be the absolute best of the best. Just because you can fool the rantards doesn’t mean it’s a legit rating.

I just found the game codes for the LSU games in Minute Maid (and about 50 other games). We will be able to view the statcast data in real time for the games played in MLB and many in MILB parks through Baseball Savant.

I'll post links in the game threads.
