Jones is a draft eligible sophomore

Did not realize this
I can see him being one of the team leaders next season

Jones, Herring, Kling, and Guidry.

Kling and Guidry were in the most recent Baseball America draft list that was 200 players deep.

For fun, who do yall think had more power, Deichmann as a junior or Jones as a freshman? And a follow up, where did Adam rate Deichmann’s power that year?

Deichmann with the green light saber was lethal

And let’s not pretend Jones doesn’t hit the ball very hard when he makes contact

He, White & Travinski are on a different plane

Jones' fielding being over 50 is hilarious.

I don’t mind it. I’d prob give him 55 actually. He has good actions there & should come together after a year & offseason of playing there.

He’s athletic (Adam calls him below, don’t agree. Average runner on the general scale, but moves really well for his size) and is flexible for a big guy. He will be fine

There's no denying (by most anyways) that Jones is about as strong as they come

He only had 2 errors last year and ended with a .987 fielding %

Cant really compare college players ev swinging these most likely doctored bats and balls with mlb players with their bats. Not that im arguing that Jones isnt near the top of lsus team as far as power

Why? He's not a bad defensive first baseman. Would he have made the play at home agaisnt Wake Forest, no. But you can't try to compare him to Tre Morgan defensively, that would be like saying, "well Luke Holman doesn't dominate the way Paul Skenes used to." Compare Jared Jones' fielding to other first basemen around the SEC and he fits in just fine.

Because a 1B doesn't get an error when the throw is in the dirt.

His picking left a lot to be desire last year. He also showed that he wasn't too comfortable making stretches at 1st, which turned some bang-bang plays into infield singles.

I dont disagree, his defense was shaky at times, i wanna see if he has improved. Have a few plays that are stuck in my mind, but im also probably comparing him to morgan

MLB is using juiced balls too. And not saying it’s apples to apples. Just for some context. 94mph is 94 mph.
