he might not. but the thing is that he has nothing to gain by participating in these. he's assured tens of millions of dollars. and he will be a top 5 pick.

if one was working on a LSU tech project to compete at the programming championships at nationals, and apple came and poached him before the finals, no one would ever complain.

y'all are letting your fandom blind you to the fact that not only is this the right choice for an individual, it is the only logical choice given the factors that exist.

most importantly, you are failing to see the long term perspective that a first round draft pick is beneficial to LSU's program and will far outlast the effects of a bowl game.

I think it’s a good decision. Waste you’re future for a meaningless game

So let's just close up shop and have everyone who didn't go to Alabama quit on the team because it means nothing. These players making these stupid, selfish decisions are HARMING the schools that allowed them to play and get the exposure that their potential contracts might reward. frick Greedy. We don't need his kind with such a selfish attitude. How do we know he hasn't been mailing it in most of the year? He has shafted the very school that gave him the exposure he needed to be a high draft choice. His selfishness will be taken into account by whoever drafts him and it will cost him money on what they might have offered to begin with. Quitters are not a valued commodity.

Wow... there is so much dumb shite within this post that I need an Advil after reading it.

Funny part is that you probably don’t realize that you’re coming off as ridiculously selfish.

If you get a scholarship to a P5 school you should skip your high school playoffs. You could get hurt and ruin your college career.

Once your NFL team is eliminated from playoff contention you should fake an injury and sit the rest of the season. You could jeapordize your future in these meaningless games.

If you’re corporate goals have already been busted, you should stop trying to meet their expectations since there’s nothing in it for you that year.

These kids could get in a career ending car accident tomorrow. Ask Chad Jones.

It stinks and it will only get worse.

You are right Karma, why risk it. I am all for Grant Delpit shutting down right now. He will be a All-American this year and has no more to prove. He should quit school now, sign with agent and get a private coach and trainer. Use this next year to improve his body and mind for the next level. No need risking his body and risking his pay day.

. I will add this, he will get his millions regardless so he should refuse to participate in any predraft functions such as proday at school or the combine. He might pull a hammy or answer a question wrong.

Greedy Williams doesn't owe me anything, but I don't owe him anything. He got as much, if not more, than I did out of the deal.

There have been hundreds of LSU players, and I pull for them because they wear the purple and gold. No one on this board would be pulling for Greedy if he had played anywhere else. It ain't about him. It's about LSU.

When he chooses to leave the program, I hope he does well, but I won't follow his career. If he's scared to play football, that's fine.

He quit on LSU. Fine with me. It's my clear right to quit on him.

Sitting out of the bowl game out of fear of injury? Lame excuse. Greedy is living up to his name. Too bad for the rest of the team and underclassmen who might be aspiring to improve their own futures by playing.

Im sure it was a tough decision for him. He knew he would get some blowback. Im sure he also gets that most Tiger fans would understand. The reality is that money is on the line. I say thanks for the blood, sweat, and tears. He is a Tiger for life and I wish him nothing but the best.

I think the football players want to play football. The only exception is that last non playoff bowl game before the draft. Not a huge deal. If in the playoffs you damn skippy they’ll want to play

I know this is sarcasm, but this wouldn't be as bad as what Greedy is doing.

I bet the majority of them don't see it that way. And who cares if they do.

For a guaranteed $20 million I'd quit on everyone in this world but my wife and kids.

That's what he is doing. Not risking his family's security. Nobody cares about your opinion about that.

I agree recruits read this board and to bash players who chose to come to LSU. They are not paid athletes.

Coaches get paid millions and recruits know the coaches job can be a little scrutinized as a result

It isn’t complete sarcasm and I agree it wouldn’t be as bad as what Greedy is doing. My theory is you start the season, you play all year you don’t quit on your team when there are games left to play. If you want to quit do it before the season.
I know most don’t agree and that is fine but that is my opinion. Quitting like he is doing is setting a bad precedent. Where does this end? Where is the cut off point? Will players start quitting during the season once they have put enough skins on the wall to be sure they will be drafted high? What if a 5 star player said hey I have a scholarship locked up to a big time program I am not playing anymore in high school while his team is in the playoffs. What if Kyler Murray was projected to be a 1st round pick in the nfl and he suddenly decided he was going the football route and not baseball and he announced he would not be playing in the game against Alabama. It will happen sooner or later. A big time player is going to sit out the playoff games to protect their draft stock.

Some on this board want to talk about how these players (who choose to leave) should do what they want because of "all the amazing things they have done for the team/university." It has also been stated that these players owe NOTHING to the university/team because of "all the amazing things they have done for the team/university." Did any of these people ever stop to think about how these NFL bound players got to this position? Their individual talent certainly has a lot to do with this, but their TEAMMATES are also a large of their success. These NFL bound players are playing on a very successful team (because of their teammates). These NFL bound players get a lot of press/prime TV time (because of their teammates). For instance, a running back certainly has a "better" chance of making it into the NFL if he is successful....and his success has a lot to do with a good OL. Also, these players owe much of their success to their coaches (and the university that put all of these pieces into place).
