Austin Thomas can only listen to his head coach...

If Kelly wanted 48 undersized slot receivers then that's what he got.

I'm not saying Austin Thomas should stay, because I don't know enough about how Kiffin likes to run his program. But If you go and spend 100 mil ona coach you expect him to make the decisions..

The miseval of talent was what we had on the roster already.

He absolutely did NOT live up to what he was laid in NIL. He was barely any better than Echols and wasn’t as good or ad consistent as Adams before he went down.

The deal he gave Nuss ended up being a real dog. Barron Brown wasn’t really worth what we paid and Nic Anderson was a huge bust.

He had some misses.

18 milllion in the portal and how many of them were worth the money?

If Austin Thomas was evaluating talent then we have found the problem.

The defense was SIGNIFICANTLY improved because of the transfers. You went from two years of an abysmal secondary to arguably the best CB in the country and the leading tackler in the SEC and likely 1st team all SEC (Haulcy) safety in Haulcy. The DL was also very good.

The offensive transfers simply had no chance because the coaching on that side of the ball was horrible. Beginning in week 1 all the way through the gameplan/approach gave LSU no shot.

That said, I don't think losing Thomas would be a big loss

They got lucky they got haulcy at the last minute. He was probably the best player on defense. Him or delane.

The receivers and sharp were huge whiffs. Needed to bring in at least one tackle, which I said at the time.

With a good offensive scheme, I think Barion Brown can be a game changer. The talent is there. Did not put him in situations to utilize his strengths.

No. He has shown what he is over 4 years of college football.

I thought Cooley played well. Gooden, Patrick Payton, and Jack Pyburn all played well on the DL.
Pretty much everyone we brought in on the defensive side of the ball was beneficial.

B.Moore on the Oline was solid.
Most other offensive transfers left a lot to be desired.

Defensively the portal adds were pretty solid. They completely missed on the offensive side of the ball....Bauer, Barion Brown, Nic Anderson, and Donovan Green were misses.

Our receiving corp would have been better if they played Hilton, Zavion, Aaron Anderson, and Kyle Parker more than Barion Brown. He is just not the receiver they thought they were getting but he was paid so heavily they felt they needed to play him which was the absolute worst decision. The substitutions were unacceptable for LSU on both sides of the ball but mainly offense. They played who got paid the most not who was most deserving.

Austin Thomas job is not to identify portal talent, he was brought in to supercharge the NIL program so we could have the funds to go get who we actually WANTED in the portal.

The portal class overall was fine, our coaching stuff bungled a number of things, especially on the offensive side of the football this season. We could have used 1 more transfer OLineman, but Brad Davis sucks at his job and is rightfully going to get canned after the bowl game.

Austin Thomas gone

Is he? His job title is Sr. Associate AD / Football Administration, and he is listed under both the Office of the Athletics Director staff and the Football staff in the staff directory. So he may stay on as part of the athletic department even if he is not part of the football staff.

Thompson was not good, Brown, Sharp same. Awful. They hit on the defensive side of the ball for sure.

I believe he was one of the guys Kiffin was rah rahing with on the balcony outside of football ops yesterday. Him and Thomas go way back so unless they have had a big fall out I don’t think he’s going anywhere. I get he brought his GM with him but plenty of hands on deck needed to manage the monster we’re building

18 milllion in the portal and how many of them were worth the money? Mansoor, Haulcey and……. The misevaluation of talent has been a huge problem, no one talks about. LSU spent the 3rd most NIL last year, the 2 teams ahead of us were OHIO state and Texas. We made the Texas bowl they both made deep playoff runs with Ohio State winning it all!

1. That $18 million wasn’t just on the transfer portal. It was (reportedly) the total roster investment.

2. More than half of our starting defense came from the portal class. You aren’t going to hit on every single transfer. I’d say that the transfer class was pretty good. The only real issue was that we didn’t take more OL in the portal.

3. Please cite your source for LSU spending the 3rd most in the country in NIL last year.

Fact: $18MM got LSU barely 7 wins and only a forlorn gaze from the distant sideline at the playoffs…

One of the dumbest fricking threads ever. The defense was top 15 I think in scoring despite having NO HELP, AT wasn't the problem, BK and his offensive coaches were
