Too early to tell. They have that potential, but key injuries could alter that projection.

It wouldn’t surprise me as this team is capable of that, but both of those things are going to be difficult. There are 5 teams good enough to win the SEC and reaching a final for requires a lot of variables to turn out right.

Are they a good enough team to go on a run to make the final four? Yes. Will they? That’s impossible to predict.

frick no. They turned the fricking ball over 21 times last night. You better have better ball play than that shite show AT HOME to win in the tournament. Their GUARDS turned it over 12 times last night - TWELVE! You aren’t winning the NCAA tournament or going very far with those numbers.

They shoot like 44% as a team

People are used to Auburn bombing 3s but this team can’t shoot. They have to show they can win on the road in the SEC

Typical “they just beat us, they must be a final four team.”

FIFY
Diversity is the key to success. That includes watching other teams in other conferences play. Be a fan of the sport and not just LSU will open up all kinds of possibilities.

They make 9.5 threes per game. They don’t necessarily shoot a super high percentage, but they can shoot about like most Auburn teams under Bruce.

That shot blocker gives them a dimension not many teams have - he is an elite shot blocker.

that we turned them over 21 times might be something that would be a concern in that regard. We are bemoaning our turnovers, but they had more.

Smith is for real, he made some really tough shots.

I think our defense is legit and they won't see the kind of pressure we can bring from very many teams.

they have a shot - I'll say that. It will be as it always is a matchup thing in the tourney. When they made the Final Four recently they were very fortunate to get past their first game, in fact I'd go so far as to say probably should have lost that game.

ya think? You are not winning many games ESPECIALLY ON THR ROAD or in the tournament when your guards turn it over 12 of the 21 times. Bad basketball play.

They’re not that great.
We just had no inside presence on offense and not much on defense.

Can win any SEC game when you get out blocked 14 to 2 and pull down just 29 total rebounds.

Auburn has potential for all of that, but they were at home for the SEC opener and jacked up to be playing one of only five undefeated teams left in the nation in LSU. Let's see how they do on some of their road games. I saw impressive plays by a lot of guys on their team, but they seemed out of control at times too. If LSU was anything but awful shooting last night, they could have actually pulled it off (though I give full credit to Auburn for all the blocks down low). LSU needs to develop a mid-range game for teams like Auburn who block nearly everything down low.

They absolutely should have lost that game.

They fouled a 3-point shot with almost no time left. The shooter had the chance to win the game from the line, but missed at least two free throws.

When they played Virginia, they did the exact same thing, but Virginia hit the shots to win. They have a great complaint about the uncalled double-dribble, but it was very ironic how those two games paralleled each other.

I didn’t see a final 4 team last night, but if Smith gets hot I think they can play with anybody. Realistically they didn’t make good decisions with the lead, and they had a bit too much turnovers to crown them anything.

Disagree… Auburn has some pieces but I don’t think Smith Jr can do it alone.
