Good teams need good players and people aren’t going to come out and watch mediocre teams without good talent.

Signing top recruiting classes will do more to increase fan interest than changing the batters eye of making the concourse continuous.

LSU: 10,365 (down 269 from 2019)

We lost 269 ticket sakes per game because of our stadium or because our teams haven’t been as competitive.

You spoke of the loyal fan bases of the 90s. Arkansas hasn’t won shite but now they’re ahead of us. It’s a great fan experience there.

They have been fielding teams like we use to have.
Their great fan experience allowed them to sell just 48 tickets per game. 48 tickets more for a so called great fan experience. Lol

It used to not even be close. In 2000, Arkansas pulled only 1559 per game. By 2006, Baum’s first year and just 6 years later, they were at 7123 good for second already. Sure, their teams have improved but they have zero championships and have passed LSU and 24 other teams.

Keep making excuses and acting like people don’t want comfort even for good teams.

Im not sure how you are even debating this. I thought everyone in this fanbase was in agreement that lsu needs to improve it alot.

If they dont, its going to keep slowly dwindling. Its a different time. Fans want amenities to go to games now. Regardless of how good their teams are. Especially in a sport like baseball which is perceived as slow. If you turn your nose up at the fanbase long enough, we’ll fall further behind

You know what I meant. My point was that LSU is going to basically average 10k+ ticket sales every year. The argument for stadium upgrades isn’t to improve ticket sales, it’s to increase the amount of people actually at games.

It’s to stop dwindling sales, and yes, get people to show up again and spend money buying food, drinks, gear, etc. So many people are just holding on to legacy tickets they’ve had for a long time and they only show up for a big game or two before post season. It sucks when the grandstand is half full for an sec game. We don’t have a top 10 stadium or a top 10 atmosphere. That’s just being realistic.

The 2017 team went to the championship series but the only time the stadium was packed was when we hosted State in the super.

A few months before the 2017 season, I kinda remember a major natural disaster that a lot of fans were dealing with for about a year. I kinda remember that being a major distraction that impacted attendance.

I think you need to give fan attendance a mulligan for that season,

I flooded in 2016 too man. It wasn’t what impacted attendance. Lame excuse.

Most places need amenities to draw fans in.

When LSU is rolling - and we have not for a few seasons - you could have 10k wooden grandstand seats and they would be packed.

Any money we have for projects needs to be invested in player facilities for baseball and basketball.

Zephyr Field had a berm, a pool, hot tubs, and a party deck. How did that work out?

The die hards came. The casual fans were putting up sheet rock at night and on weekends.

I told you our teams were not playing at the level we saw and that had hurt attendance and the atmosphere. You kept pretending it’s all the amenities we lack hurting attendance. Who is fool in’ who here?

And I’m not against improving things, but if I am the coach and the choice I’d building facilities thst the players use of revamping the seating in the stadium, it’s a no brainer. The players come where the facilities are best for them.

Baseball in a good year made a small profit. It’s not the cash cow for the department. Other sports need help you. Spending money on player facilities was the right choice.

We just spent money pushing a coaching staff out and spending even more on a new staff which did not come cheap. That was necessary to stop the bleeding and to reenergize the program. That was vital way more important than cosmetic improvements to the Box.

Moving forward I’d guess that Johnson’s wishes will take precedence over everything else. The bullpen change would likely come first and any restructure to the stadium that would entail.

Hopefully some things to the stadium would come next. I too would like a cover over the stands, better concessions and some new things. But first I want a championship caliber tesm.

I agree. I just got out of school and it was depressing going to a Friday Night game against a top 10 SEC school and only having 7-8k in the stadium. Those nights should be legitimate sellouts. I’m all for anything that improves the atmosphere and makes more people want to go to games.

Again, we went to the championship series in 2017. We averaged 10,580 in 2016, 10,725 in 2017, 10786 in 2018, 10,634 in 2019 and even less in 2022 with 10,365 a pretty significant drop. For easy viewing…

2016: 10,580
2017: 10,725
2018: 10,786
2019, 10,634
2022: 10,365

Now these are ticket sales. We stopped doing actuals when it started to become apparent that people weren’t showing up and it was a little embarrassing. But I go to lots of games. I watch every single one. You can’t tell me it hasn’t gotten worse and worse with the stands half empty for what should be big series. At the same time Ole Miss and State and A&M and Tennessee and Arkansas are packing their stadiums week after week.
