It’s a foul ball because it hit the know of the bat then his hand I’m assuming. Like if you foul a ball off your foot and it rolls into fair territory it’s still a foul ball.

Nope, knob is still fair.

This is kinda like in football when they blow a fumble dead thinking the runner was down, since the play was blown dead nothing after time was called can count.

But it never went foul lol. That’s like a bunt going fair and hitting a finger. That’s the batters fault.

Exactly. If it hit knob at all and goes fair, it’s still fair. And the way it came off, that didn’t hit anything soft.

If it’s a dead ball, it’s an HBP. If it’s not, then it’s a double play. Ump can’t call foul when the ball never goes foul at any point not even in the batters box.
well it could be a dead ball if it hit him and he swung which I guess is what the ump called. I walked into the kitchen and missed the call.

Not true. The hands are not considered part of the bat. So if the somehow said the ball hit the knob first, then his hand, it would be ruled a dead ball. If it hits hit hand first, then it’s a HBP.

This is exactly what happened but no one wants to believe it because it wasn’t anywhere close to a swing. But you could read the ump’s lips when he first walked out from behind the plate.”It hit him on the swing”
